We are looking for a Construction Estimator that is able to manage pre-construction building projects. Our client is a well established organization that is growing and looking to add an additional team member. You will manage new building projects for industrial, healthcare, government and other client industries .

Job Description:

As a Building Construction Estimator, your primary responsibility is to accurately estimate the costs associated with building construction projects. You will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase by providing detailed cost estimates, proposals, take-offs, and defining the scope of work in project plans. Your work directly impacts project feasibility, profitability, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation: Utilize your expertise to assess and estimate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses required for construction projects. This involves analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documentation to determine accurate cost projections.

  2. Proposal Development: Prepare comprehensive proposals outlining cost breakdowns, timelines, and project deliverables. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure proposals meet client requirements and align with company objectives.

  3. Take-Offs: Conduct detailed take-offs to quantify and itemize materials needed for construction projects. This involves interpreting architectural and engineering drawings to calculate quantities of various components such as concrete, steel, lumber, and other building materials.

  4. Scope of Work Definition: Define the scope of work for construction projects, clearly outlining the tasks, responsibilities, and deliverables involved. Ensure that the scope of work is well-defined, realistic, and aligned with project objectives and client expectations.

  5. Cost Analysis and Optimization: Continuously evaluate cost estimates to identify areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvement. Research and recommend alternative materials, construction methods, or suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or safety.

  6. Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit competitive bids for construction projects, adhering to project requirements, deadlines, and budget constraints. Collaborate with procurement teams to obtain competitive pricing for materials and subcontractor services.

  7. Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure clear communication and alignment throughout the estimation process. Provide timely updates on cost estimates, proposals, and project status.

  8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, proposals, take-offs, and project documentation. Generate reports summarizing project costs, variances, and other relevant metrics to support decision-making and project management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or similar role in the building construction industry.
  • Proficiency in construction estimation software, such as Bluebeam, ProEst, or Planswift.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Certification in estimating (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator - CPE) is a plus.
