WGRZ, the TEGNA-owned station in Buffalo, NY, is looking for a part-time, temporary Digital Desk Producer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves news and working on the cutting edge of digital and social media. This position will produce original and engaging content for all WGRZ platforms that will reach our customers whenever and wherever they are, on whatever device they are using at the time. This person will also manage content produced by others, including copy editing, for our various desktop/mobile/social outlets. The job will also require the skills of a traditional Assignment Editor.

Responsibilities: 

• Use your natural curiosity to pitch compelling stories.
• Show off your creativity and storytelling skills.
• Craft stories of all lengths on all platforms for specific audiences.
• Meet daily deadlines.
• Combine live pictures, graphics, compelling video and emotional sound to create an engaging experience for our audience.
• Booth continuous coverage on our live streams for breaking news and community events.
• Consistently try new things after thoughtful discussion with supervisors.
• Allow the impactful and emotional conversations the community needs to drive the content in your rundown.
• Use data analytics to help shape the content of your show.
• Challenge traditional ways of doing things.
• Advocate for underrepresented people, communities and viewpoints to have a voice and presence in your show.

Requirements:

The successful candidate is innovative, with strong social media experience combined with solid news judgment. Qualified candidates will have experience posting stories to digital-mobile-social platforms, working knowledge of online CMS software, video and photo-editing skills and the ability to work a flexible schedule. More important, the person we hire will want to win.
