TEG Federal Credit Union is Hiring a Collections Specialist Near Poughkeepsie, NY

At TEG Federal Credit Union, we pride ourselves on being more than just a financial institution; we are a caring team dedicated to each other and our community. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our team in Poughkeepsie, NY.
As a Collections Specialist (internally referred to as a Resolution Specialist), you will assist in preserving the credit union’s assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts and negative balances, collecting delinquent payments, and recovering collateral. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive team while you learn, grow, and develop a career in the banking industry. Plenty of advancement opportunities are available!
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 6:15pm, as needed, with approximately 1 Saturday per month 
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications):
  • 1-2 years of similar or related collections experience OR 1-2 years in a bank or credit union, with a desire to work in collections
  • Associates degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school
  • Excellent phone communication and customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software
  • Experience performing Skip Tracing functions a plus
  • Experience with Chexsystems a plus

What You’ll Do as the Collections Specialist (Responsibilities):
  • Contact delinquent and negative accounts by phone, mail, or in person
  • Handle incoming calls; speak with members and employees to answer questions and resolve problems
  • Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers
  • Take appropriate action to bring account current/positive and to protect credit union assets
  • Perform clerical functions and attorney follow up for Bankruptcy filings
  • Maintain accurate records of collection activity
  • Perform Skip Tracing functions
  • Process death/disability/gap claims and consumer credit disputes
  • Charge off negative account balances; post recoveries to charged off accounts

Pay: $19 - $23 / hour, plus monthly bonus incentives!
