Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation (TBCF) is searching for a dynamic Volunteer Manager, preferably with experience in the nonprofit sector, to join our team. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual seeking to build long-term, meaningful relationships with a community of dedicated volunteers across the tri-counties. This position will manage engagement opportunities for our current volunteer base as well as mindfully focus on recruiting, educating, training, and placing new volunteers from North Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County, and Ventura County in passion projects that support our mission in areas where we do not have a physical office space, yet serve many families.
The ideal candidate has great communication and interpersonal skills, is highly detail oriented while managing multiple projects, can work with a variety of individuals of all ages and backgrounds, operates with empathy and kindness, and is comfortable with public speaking, passionately relaying our mission both one-on-one as well as to groups. As a nonprofit with over 700 annual volunteers, we are seeking someone committed to ensuring we are operating at our best on behalf of the many families with children battling cancer we serve throughout the tri-counties. DESCRIPTION OF JOB
Volunteer Orientation & Placement (40%)
Responsible for outreaching, securing interest, vetting new volunteers, and placing them in appropriate positions within the organization. This position is also responsible for the upkeep of volunteer policies & procedures.
Project Holiday (25%)
Works alongside our Family Engagement Manager on gift procurement and volunteer involvement in our Project Holiday efforts throughout the year. These programs are all volunteer led and can be facilitated offsite in schools, businesses, clubs, and church groups in all tri-county regions.
Corporate Volunteerism (10%)
TBCF offers companies across the tri-counties the opportunity to volunteer with us in meaningful ways. These events promote staff bonding and team building while giving back to our families. The Volunteer Manager is the lead in outreach and management of all our Corporate Volunteerism opportunities.
Volunteer Tracking (10%)
Responsible for inputting volunteers into our database and tracking their involvement each month. Reports are used for various reasons throughout the year.
Volunteer Appreciation (5%)
Works to properly thank and appreciate our volunteers via various outlets such as hand-written thank-you cards, thank you phone calls, e-blasts, social media posts, and assists our Communications & Events Director in hosting our Supporter Appreciation Party.
Internship Program (5%)
TBCF utilizes multiple interns throughout the year. The Volunteer Manager is responsible for the recruitment and placement of interns, as well as upkeep of appropriate intern paperwork.
Teddy Bear Clubs (5%)
Establishes partnerships with tri-county schools to set up student-led Teddy Bear Clubs whose mission is to support TBCF throughout the school year. Typically, Teddy Bear Clubs assist with Project Holiday efforts, volunteer in our office and at events, and organize their own fundraisers.

Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation advocates for families living in Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties that have a child with cancer by providing financial, educational, and emotional support.

APPLICATION PROCESS
This is a full-time exempt salaried position with excellent health benefits and competitive holiday and paid time off provided. The salary range is $60k - $65k depending on experience, and the position reports to the Sr. Director of Health & Wellness. Our office hours are Monday – Thursday, 8:30am – 5:30pm, and 8:30am – 1pm on Fridays. This position will require some evening and weekend work managing event volunteers and ongoing volunteer projects.
