: This position is located in the Austin South Field Office at 5508 Hwy 290 W. Bldg. B, Austin, TX 78735
TOUR OF DUTY : Full-time, Part-time, Intermittent.
TYPE OF POSITION : Temporary not to exceed 1 year. May be extended. Will not become permanent.

Duties
The Management Support Specialist serves as a leader of Claims Specialists and other employees in area field offices (FOs) and in addition, provides administrative support in one or more of the following specializations: fraud and abuse detection, systems support and liaison, and administrative management..

Qualifications
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Such experience must have involved the development, examination, investigation, adjudication, or authorization of claims for retirement, survivors insurance, disability insurance, pension programs, health insurance, income maintenance, or related programs; or administration or other experience in the analysis, development, or review of a retirement or survivors insurance, disability insurance, health insurance, income maintenance and pension, or related programs; or experience that provided a broad knowledge of the function or subject area of the position to be filled. This experience must demonstrate ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, to exercise tact, ingenuity and resourcefulness in the development of facts and information, and to work well with others.

GS:12: Applicants must have 52 weeks at GS-11 or higher .

In addition to the minimum qualifications, applicants must be eligible under one of the following categories:
  • Displaced or surplus Federal employees eligible under the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) who have held a GS-11 or above, and in the commuting area of the listed duty locations.
In addition to meeting the basic eligibility criteria, ICTAP applicants must be well qualified for the position. Well-qualified is defined as having knowledge, skills, and abilities that clearly exceed the minimum qualification requirements for the position. Under numeric rating procedures, qualified ICTAP applicants must receive a rating of 85 or higher to be eligible for selection.
