SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Team Lead coordinates, motivates, mentors, and directs shift activities within an established zone or area. This role provides an intermediate level of support for operations, including quality control, troubleshooting, and scheduling of personnel. Is responsible for assisting with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of their shift. Executes responsibilities in accordance with the company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

The Team Lead's responsibilities include training employees, planning, scheduling, assigning, reviewing processes, verifying cycle time, directing work, and developing CI projects.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide leadership and coaching, which includes participating in the accountability process for the quality and overall production process.

  • Enforce safety policies, ensuring compliance with safety rules and regulations.

  • Accountable for ensuring that production scheduled for completion is executed in a timely manner.

  • Ensure safety, work rules, and 5S standards are followed and maintained. Report any lapses or issues to supervisor in a timely fashion.

  • Instruct team members on safe operating procedures and plant conduct expectations, and require them to follow these instructions.

  • Enable effective communications between plant management, shift management, support staff, and operators.

  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.

  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

  • Investigate and keep Supervisor informed of all incidents (spills, accidents, poor performance, barriers to production, MRBs, quality issues, maintenance needs, and tooling issues).

  • Cultivate a team environment focused on continuous improvement efforts, employing problem solving techniques.

  • Support the 8D process, and suggest and implement cost-saving ideas related to the eight types of waste.

  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the production floor, department, or shift.

  • Responsible for scheduling or assisting in scheduling of operators.

  • Report production ERP database by shift end.

  • Conduct and assist others in investigations to determine causes of quality defects.

  • Provide input into the review process for Operators.

  • Ensure suspect product is segregated, identified, and dispositioned per established criteria, or create an MRB. Further coordinates support for action within the quality hold area.

  • Responsible to keep Supervisor informed of all quality, maintenance, personnel, and tooling issues.

  • Interact with the Operators while conducting visual, dimensional, and process audits in accordance with Control Plans, Inspection Instructions, and Audit Plans.

  • Perform tasks as an Operator, provide break relief time (will vary depending upon workload), and pack product as necessary.

  • Provide recommendations through Quality Assurance to clearly communicate quality criteria or processes.

  • Verify the necessary job specific training for all employees in your area is completed.

  • Complete and assist with job specific training for hourly production employees.

  • This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS diploma or equivalent is required

  • Prior experience in manufacturing and leadership is required

  • Will have OT shifts, need to be available for OT (12 hours shifts and weekends)

  • Computer skills such as emails in Outlook, ability to retrieve data on the shift's production within the ERP system, etc.
