Job Summary/Objectives:

Our RF Design Engineers design passive microwave components working individually and with the other members of the Engineering Design team that deliver the technical specifications required by our customers. Components such as Power Dividers, Couplers 0/180 and 90 degree hybrids and fixed phase shifters with multiple octave bandwidths are the building blocks we routinely integrate into our assemblies. Construction techniques include Stripline, Microstrip, Ferrite and Coaxial in frequencies from 100 KHz through 40 GHz. TRM often combines construction technologies to optimize product packaging and performance. To be successful in this role, a candidate will need to demonstrate a strong background in passive microwave component design as well as a RF mechanical packaging and processes.

This position combines the excitement of developing a custom solution for a product through combination of existing elements from our design library and your circuit design creativity with the real world challenges of timely product design as well as adherence to cost targets.

What Your Weeks Will Look Like:

You will:

• Design passive RF/Microwave circuits that meet customer specifications.
• Integrate these circuits into unique and robust mechanical packages.
• Develop and validate electromagnetic performance for integrated systems, including mechanical structures, interconnects and circuits.
• Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component and interconnect performance and to optimize design around established requirements.
• Define and conduct tests to validate performance of designs to requirements.

Other Aspects of the Position:

• Actively participate in weekly Design Engineering project status meetings to help the team achieve the best design solutions for customer requirements.
• Contribute to the design library through researching solutions available “in the world” or through their own design efforts.
• Work with our customers to clarify design specifications as well as work to resolve unexpected challenges inherent in the design requirements.
• Assist the manufacturing team troubleshooting products that are not performing to design specifications.
• Prepare written Reports, such as analysis and Design Review material.
• Contribute to and author root cause investigation reports.

The Skills You Need to be Successful:

• Competence using ANSYS high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) tool, or other similar electromagnetic tools 
• Analytical skills
• Analyze & interpret engineering data
• Computer Aided Design Tools, such as Solidworks, AutoCad 
• Engineering analysis 
• RF/Microwave System Design a significant plus
• Experience working with Military documentation
• Strong team contributor in a dynamic work flow environment with good time management skills

Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

• US Citizenship
• Background and working knowledge in RF theory and concepts highly desirable
• BS Degree in science, engineering, or other STEM-related degree plus a minimum of 4 years of experience
