TEAM Industries is Hiring a Designer I Near Bagley, MN

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Purpose: This individual is an entry-level designer working under daily supervision with broad drafting experience. This person is responsible for working closely with the initial Project Team to define first concepts. Develop models for use in clearance checks, tolerance analysis and the creation of prints with regards to our current “Modeling Best Practices”. Other responsibilities will include working with the Drafting Checker to help define the “Modeling Best Practices” and give presentations at in-house user groups on either manufacturing process or new modeling practices. May be called upon from time to time to assist in the documentation of ECO’s and maintaining TEAM Industries/ANSI/ GD&T Standards. Aid in the training and mentoring of Drafters.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe work environment for self and others. Follows all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to safety program
  • Designs and develops new models, mechanisms, or adaptations for a particular product
  • Works in liaison with project management teams and Project Engineers
  • Responsible for correct proportions, considerations of stress, speed, weight, operational details, and the incorporation of usable parts in development of models working closely with project team
  • Works as a team member to support engineering growth and development
  • Creates CAD files to meet engineering specifications per TEAM Drafting Standard and ensure the pre-established timelines are maintained and required commitments are met
  • Modifies existing CAD files and issue new part numbers and ECOs if necessary
  • Exchanges CAD files with the customer and toolmakers as required
  • Generates initial assemblies layouts and customer drawings and design concepts/modeling
  • Anticipates resource problems and resolves them with Project Team involvement to minimize their effect on the project
  • Analyzes and diagnoses design problems in the preliminary stages of assigned projects and assures corrective action is taken. (i.e. Tolerance analysis, Form & Fit, Clearances, etc.)
  • Reviews cost estimates for piece parts, assemblies and tooling and assists in cost reduction efforts and ensures components are designed for manufacturing
  • Maintains good organization and documentation
  • Write reports and effectively present information to teams and/or management
  • Demonstrate commitment to the TEAM Industries Quality Management system and Objectives.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere. Actively support activities that promote the welfare and morale of TEAM employees
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Two-year technical degree; and
  • Five years experience; or seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ensures proper procedures are followed
  • Maintains good communication within the project team and works in close liaison with the other departments and Management
  • Interface to customer, Customer Drawing creation to be used as a communication tool throughout the design project
  • GD & T

Training:

  • Reference OJT

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
