Applicants do not need a background in education, or teaching certification – only a bachelor's degree.

Our Organization: TeachStart accelerates the pathway to teaching by recruiting great people, removing financial and bureaucratic barriers, and providing high-quality training. We support our Fellows to attain their teaching credential and full time employment, creating economic opportunity and changing lives.

The Role: The TeachStart Fellowship is a career accelerator designed to give Fellows a variety of experiences in teaching while providing training, salary and benefits. Our fellows receive foundational training before they begin work, and then teach as substitute teachers with our partner Scoot Education. During that time, they receive paid days off, paid training days, and support completing their credentialing coursework.

TeachStart helps to cover the cost of credentialing with a $400 kickstarter grant, a reduced fee for coursework with our credentialing partner, and an additional $5,200 grant upon completion of their credential.

We then support Fellows to attain full-time employment as a Teacher of Record at one of our many partner schools.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA
• A Background Check and Tuberculosis Test
