The Windows Server Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and advanced troubleshooting of Microsoft systems (Windows, IIS, SQL) in support of software products across various environments and technologies, such as public and private clouds, networking, servers, databases, and system performance.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty as described below satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
Support, troubleshoot, and maintain Microsoft Windows and IIS systems for SaaS infrastructure located on-premises and within AWS.
Manage Windows web services, third party SSL certificates and general Windows server configurations, including patch installation and web server security.
Troubleshooting high-priority IIS/Web services issues and perform in-depth technical root cause analysis.
Experience in resolving complex performance issues (response time, throughput, etc.).
Work with internal and external clients with varying degrees of skillsets ranging from end-users to experienced IT teams to resolve highly complex Windows server, IIS and network technical issues.
Maintain, monitor, and analyze performance of systems using SCOM or any other monitoring software.
Prioritize workload and resolution to meet service level agreements.
Analyze and resolve customer technical issues affecting operations, escalating to other departments as needed.
Work closely with cloud engineers and development teams on issue resolution and process improvement.
Provide operational support such as server monitoring, patching, and other duties as required. (SCOM, SCCM, WSUS)
Technical expertise with Windows, IIS, databases, and data access technologies
Experience in managing/administration of Mail system (Exchange/Office365/SMTP servers)
Scripting to automate redundant tasks.
Great problem solving, strategic thinking and technical skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
5 years supporting and administering Windows system.
5 years supporting web-based applications running Microsoft IIS.
3 years supporting and administering Microsoft System Center Operations Manager
3 years supporting and administering Microsoft Hyper-V infrastructure.
Expertise in administering and managing Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and Configuration Manager
Experience in Managing Windows Updates and Patching Windows servers using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
Basic understanding of AWS Cloud Infrastructure
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science (or related discipline) OR Microsoft Certifications (one of below)
Administering Windows Server 2012R2/2016/2019/2022
Configuring Advanced Server 2012R2/2016/2019/2022 services
Designing and Implementing a Server Infrastructure
Universal Windows Platform
MCSA
MCSE
Must be strong in Windows Server fundamentals (administration, including Active Directory (AD), DNS and Group Policy).
Scripting Skills (PowerShell).
Fundamental knowledge of networking, common protocols, mail routing and different mail authentication/protocols.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively, in a professional manner with technical and non-technical staff (both verbal and written).
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
