Key Responsibilities:

Tropicana Brands Group is looking for a highly qualified Maintenance Reliability Engineer to support the Packaging team to ensure the company’s goals and initiatives are met.

This position contributes to the success of Tropicana Brands Group by driving reliability improvement programs such as condition inspection, condition based and predictive maintenance systems. Support current and future plant reliability improvement initiatives; manages and distributes maintenance metrics and data to support data-driven decision making and prioritization within maintenance group; leads department root cause analysis and FMEA efforts by facilitation of meetings and management of action items. Tropicana is looking for a critical thinker with exceptional communication, influencing and relationship management skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintenance Program Development: Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive maintenance programs that include preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inspections, and spare parts management to ensure the reliability and longevity of manufacturing equipment.
  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Lead TPM initiatives, including autonomous maintenance, planned maintenance, and focused improvement, to maximize equipment uptime, minimize breakdowns, and improve overall equipment efficiency.
  • Lean Manufacturing Integration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate Lean Manufacturing principles into the production process, focusing on waste reduction, process optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis and failure mode analysis to identify and eliminate chronic equipment issues, implementing sustainable solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintenance Reliability Engineering: Apply engineering principles to identify opportunities for enhancing equipment reliability, reducing operational costs, and improving manufacturing performance.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to equipment performance, maintenance, and downtime, utilizing this information to make informed decisions and improvements. Breakdown tracking and analysis.
  • Training and Development: Train and mentor maintenance and production teams in best practices related to maintenance, TPM, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Spare Parts Management: Ensure the availability of critical spare parts, minimize inventory costs, and optimize the spare parts inventory management system.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks to manufacturing reliability, assess their impact, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to equipment maintenance, TPM activities, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Accelerate the pace of implementation of current and future reliability/OEE improvement programs.
  • Own/drive/teach root cause analysis program by facilitation and execution of actions.
  • Identification of the current pain points and developing remediation strategies.
  • Support any critical and urgent project/effort.
  • Improve uptime and lower maintenance cost by optimizing maintenance strategies.
  • Support future plant based autonomous maintenance systems.
  • Assist to reduce maintenance and food safety related incidents and risks.
  • Assist to develop maintenance initiatives and monitor execution.
  • Support process safety compliance for maintenance, including contractors.
  • Assisting with safety incident investigations and drive towards zero maintenance safety incidents.
  • Adherence to the Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets.
  • Supports pro-active safety training, detailed and standardized LOTO procedures which is integrated in all PM’s and Permit-to-Work systems.
  • Develop a data centric decision-making culture within the plant maintenance department, which includes asset utilization,
  • Develop a plant strategy for condition inspection techniques and tools to optimally detect defects pro-actively.
  • Use predictive technologies to find and correct energy losses.
  • Co-ordinate training for all users on condition inspection tools.
  • Consult and seek guidance on reliability techniques and tools:
    • PHA - Preliminary hazards analysis
    • FMEA - Failure modes and effects analysis
    • CA - Criticality analysis
    • SFMEA - Simplified failure modes and effects analysis
    • MI - Maintainability information
    • FTA - Fault tree analysis
    • ETA - Event tree analysis

Education:

Tertiary qualification in a related field or equivalent experience. Food manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Proven capability to develop and maintain strong collaborative plant and supplier relationships
  • Ability to influence effective decision-making with cross-functional teams
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with diversity and inclusion sensitivity
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively and persuasively articulate positions (electronically and verbally) to various audiences and at all levels of the business
  •  Ability to effectively delegate tasks and measure progress across multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently and within teams on both strategy and tactical projects with minimal supervision.
  •  Program management skills: identification and management of stakeholders, milestone development and tracking of progress, resource management, risk mitigation, detailed action planning, and basic familiarity with change management.

Business Acumen:

  •  Ability to propose, evaluate and motivate projects from a technical and financial perspective
  • Ability to interact at various levels within the global and regional integrated supply chain
  •  Ability to interface x-functionally with other functions (e.g., Procurement, Production, Engineering, etc.)

Required Length & Type of Experience:

  •  Relevant experience in manufacturing, preferably the food industry
  • Detailed understanding of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing programs
  • Proven safety improvement track record
  •  Proven track record in plant maintenance management
  •  Proven track record to drive results through influencing, persuading and collaboration
