Normal work hours are Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM. Benefits for this position include equipment discounts, health insurance, retirement benefits and paid time off. Our office is located in central Tampa and the vast majority of our work is currently in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties.

The smart home and audio/video technician is responsible for completing assigned tasks under the supervision of an experienced technician or a lead technician on a daily basis. This position requires a strict attention to detail and excellent communication/organizational skills.

Candidates for this position should be comfortable with manual labor including working outdoors, working on construction sites, working in attics and crawl spaces and digging trenches for buried wiring/conduit year round in all Florida weather and temperature conditions. If you are not comfortable with this type of work on a regular and extended basis please do not apply for this position.

Candidates should also be comfortable climbing ladders, working on scaffolding, using power tools and lifting/moving up to 50lbs. Frequent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling are required for this position.

Duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Documentation of completed work and parts used on assigned job sites
  • Reading and interpreting construction plans and blueprints
  • Knowledge of coaxial, category, fiber, speaker and other low-voltage cabling
  • Knowledge of proper termination techniques for low-voltage cabling
  • Knowledge of proper construction methods and structured cabling installation
  • Knowledge of low-voltage systems
  • Pulling wire for retrofit and new construction projects in residential and some light commercial settings
  • Installation of rough-in boxes/brackets, speaker brackets, enclosures and back boxes
  • Installation of surface mounted exterior conduit
  • Digging and trenching for buried conduit and wiring
  • Installation of buried conduit and wiring for low-voltage and landscape lighting systems
  • Installation of proper termination of wall plates
  • Installation of indoor, outdoor and landscape speakers
  • Installation of landscape lighting transformers and fixtures
  • Installation of indoor and outdoor low-voltage lighting fixtures, track and strip lighting
  • Installation of TVs, projectors/screens, touch screens, shades and other electronic devices
  • Installation and aiming of surveillance cameras
  • Building equipment racks and installing equipment per rack elevation drawings

Requirements for this position:

  • A strong worth ethic with the ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills with customers and peers.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and manage priorities
  • Proficiency using a PC, tablets and smart phones is required for this position
  • You must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a background and drug test.
  • Your own industry related hand-tools will eventually be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
