Job Description Summary

As a GL Controller working for Taylor Morrison, you will be responsible for working with the VP of Finance to lead department, review division's financial statements, general ledger, accounts payable, budgeting, and more.

Job Details

We trust that as a Controller you will: (responsibilities)

  • Support the V.P. of Finance in providing general accounting management expertise to the operating division as well as to the corporate accounting organization.
  • Ensure that accounting, control, audit, and administrative duties are performed effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure that accounting information is accurately developed, analyzed, and reported to management.
  • Audit Requests - Internal and External
  • Make sure there is division adherence to Delegated Authorities, Process Maps, and update PO Approval Rules
  • Weekly Correspondence with Accounting and Finance teams about Monthly Deliverables
  • Oversee division wire requests for recurring payments, JV's, interest payments, etc.
  • Overhead actuals reporting for all departments
  • Provide commentary on monthly Financial Statements for all items coinciding with Accounting and the GL
  • Organize and plan month end accounting planning with staff while maintaining a 3-day close schedule.
  • Review month end financials and provide commentary to Region concerning the Finance aspects of the division's performance.
  • Monthly Actuals Cash Forecast as part of the month end deliverables
  • Consolidation Statistics Month End Reporting - Land / Dev / MUD CapEx Portion
  • Quarterly Footnote Workbook
  • Insurance Course of Construction Values - Quarterly
  • Property Held for Inventory Reporting / Rollforward for 3rd Party Auditors
  • Ensure Balance Sheet and WIP forecasts are prepared timely and accurately.
  • Manage, motivate, and develop General Ledger Administrative staff.
  • Ensure that corporate financial policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure that all corporate and operational reports are submitted accurately and timely.
  • Provide accounting assistance to all functional areas as needed.
  • Responsible for accuracy of financial reports for assigned entities and subsidiaries.

About you:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA, active CPA candidacy acceptable

    Bachelor's degree in accounting

  • Seven years of experience in accounting
  • Accounting experience, preferably in the homebuilding, land development and/or construction industry
  • Experience with finance and accounting systems and software.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting (specifically construction industry)
  • Prior experience managing and training accounting personnel.
  • Computer literacy, including excellent Excel skills.
  • Credit report in good standing.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Will have responsibilities such as:

  • Interviewing, selecting, and training employees.

  • Appraising productivity; handling employee grievances or complaints, or disciplining employees.
  • Determining work techniques.
  • Planning the work.
  • Apportioning work among employees.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Taylor Morrison experience and/or successful completion of training program may override required education and/or experience requirement.
