Taylor Commercial Foodservice is Hiring a Design Engineering Lab Technician Near Rockton, IL

Description

BASIC FUNCTION: 

? Operate and maintain safe and healthy work environment. 

? Complete all required training pertaining to work areas, procedures, and operation of 

equipment. 

? Work from engineering work orders that outline procedures and expected deliverable results. 

? Common engineering work orders: 

  • Build prototype equipment. 
  • Fit, form, function of production part revisions. 
  • Test and evaluate refrigeration systems. 
  • Design, build, and maintain life cycle test stands. 
  • Conduct agency approval testing of new and revised equipment. 

? Create engineering laboratory reports that document setup, procedure, and results. 

? Maintain tools, equipment, and work area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

Maintain a clean and clutter free work area. Consisting of routine sweeping and mopping of floors. 

Service of restaurant equipment consisting of disposing food product, disassembling, cleaning, and 

reassemble. 

Participate in design engineering activities from concept design to end-of-life analysis. 

Build proof of concept breadboards at system and unit levels from sketches, blueprints and/or dialogue 

requested by engineers. 

Participate in engineering check sample build of units as part of a broad team comprised of 

manufacturing, production, and supply chain personnel. Support manufacturing check sample builds on 

the production line as required. 

Conduct an array of test that include life cycle testing, performance testing, compliance testing of 

components, systems, and units. Working under the direction of engineering to identify overall 

performance considering controllable and noise variables. 

Testing will require setup of materials and laboratory instrumentation in organized manner. Design and 

creation of fixtures to improve repeatability and efficiencies of test deliverables. 

Ability to write formal test reports with technical detail to allow engineers to produce analysis. 

Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

Education: Associate degree in science, engineering, or technology. 

Certifications: EPA Section 608 Technician Certification for Refrigeration: Type 1 and Type 2 or 

Universal. 

Experience: One-year related work experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

? Manual dexterity is required to work with small fasteners, wiring, sensors, soldering, and brazing 

of refrigeration systems. 

? Physical effort is required to stand for extended periods, move large equipment, lift items above 

shoulders, remove/install heavy components such as refrigeration compressor/motors, and 

work at low levels when required. 

? Working conditions in the laboratory consist of a clean work area, controlled climate, exposure 

to food products (dairy and meat), and short-term exposure to extreme temperatures (-20°F to 

110°F) when working within environmental chambers. 

? Hazards are present in the laboratory, proper procedures and personal protection must be used 

to protect against electrical, pressure, steam, rotating equipment, pinch hazards, burns, and 

frost bite.
