Minimum Qualifications

• Current lifeguard certification. Need it? We'll pay.
• Desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
• Good character, integrity, and flexibility.
• Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self‐control.
• Ability to manage risks and respond in an emergency.

General Responsibilities for Lifeguard
To teach and help coordinate the camp's swimming and pond activities, and help maintain the standards that lead to a quality program.

Specific Responsibilities for Lifeguard

• Assist in setting up pool and pond areas each day.
• Evaluate the aquatic abilities of campers.
• Creatively provide a safe, fun and educational swimming experience for campers.
• Being “on guard” during free swim times – this may include being in the chair, on the pool deck, or in the water.
• Teach group swim lessons.
• Write or assist in writing lesson plans that foster participants’ aquatic skills.
• Actively lead swim lessons and implement lesson plans. (instructors lead through example and coaching by being in the water with the participants)
• Work with other staff members during special events (examples: closing programs, fun nights, picnics, and campouts).
• Plan and carry out indoor lessons and/or activities with swim groups on rainy days.

Work to keep changing areas, pool decks, equipment, grounds and pool houses neat and clean at all times.

• Work with a group outside the pool area as a camp counselor when needed.

Assist with fishing and boating activities at the pond.

• These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal

Pay: From $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Lifeguard: 1 year (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

• Knoxville, TN 37923: Relocate before starting work (Required)
