Reporting to the Divisional Dean, the Assistant Dean of Nursing Simulation and Learning Support provides academic support leadership in simulation and clinical learning support. Accordingly, this position is responsible for directing and supervising operational, programmatic, educational, and staff activities for simulation and learning resource center operations. The position fosters an environment that supports student success and collaborates with administration, faculty, and staff to ensure that all students have a productive campus and clinical experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations related to the simulation and learning support activities, including managing employee performance and conduct issues, annual performance evaluations, and conflict management
  • Assists the dean in developing, planning, recommending, implementing, and administering goals and objectives for simulation and other immersive learning and learning support resources
  • Assists the dean in providing support and direction to program faculty to ensure that simulation and immersive learning objectives are measurable and aligned with the course objectives
  • Interacts with students who utilize academic support services in ways that promote and enhance a growth mindset regarding student learning and model such behavior consistently for faculty and staff
  • Reviews and recommends approval and monitors the use of all simulation center equipment and supplies
  • Mentors faculty and staff in simulation and learning support and coordinates professional development opportunities for faculty and staff
  • Reviews and recommends guidelines for the College’s simulation and immersive learning resources according to the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practices to ensure a quality, evidence-based simulation program for all students
  • Generates reports to meet institutional needs and grant requirements; prepares and manages annual budget for simulation and learning resources; maintains accurate records regarding expenditure and equipment inventories; reviews operations periodically to optimize cost-effectiveness
  • Keeps informed on advancements and changes in simulation, learning support services, and other immersive learning technologies
  • Creates a dynamic and innovative immersive learning and academic support environment based upon current research and emerging or best practices
  • Establishes and leads the advisory group for the healthcare simulation, engaging internal and external partners
  • Represents the District and the campus at community or college meetings or events and participates in faculty and committee activities
General Supervision and Management
  • Recruits, interviews, and recommends the appointment of highly qualified faculty and staff
  • Aids and promotes professional development among faculty and staff in teaching classes, conducting orientation programs, and scheduling events
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation, creativity, and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Divisional Dean
  • Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Current Texas RN license
  • Three (3) years of administrative experience in a healthcare or educational setting; experience in nursing simulation or lab settings
  • One (1) year experience teaching or providing academic support
  • Two (2) years’ experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others; leading projects or processes)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree
  • Experience leading simulation and immersive learning centers in higher education
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification
  • Experience with implementing new learning technology and learning support initiatives
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of planning, program development, evaluation, and budgeting
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships with diverse populations, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
  • Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly and accurately in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a diverse setting
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
