Employment Consultant
Position Summary: To develop participant work skills and employmentopportunities that encourages independence, as well as personal andprofessional growth. Provide direct support to the participant, as needed, onthe job.
Qualifications:A high school diploma orequivalent required and two years’ experience working with people withdisabilities and/or the business community preferred.
ESSENTIALDUTIES:
A.AGENCY
1.Performs essential job duties with or withoutreasonable accommodations.
2.Knows and complies with all required policies,procedures, regulations, and guidelines of Target and has a clear understandingof the specific regulations used in their department. Follows the regulationsand guidelines when carrying out duties and responsibilities.
3.Successfully completes all required in-servicetrainings and completes re-certifications as required; demonstrates a clearunderstanding of the issues presented in trainings; is eager to expandknowledge; keeps current with relevant changes and take appropriate steps toobtain needed information.
4.Performs duties in accordance with the philosophy,mission and goals of the agency.
5.Works as a professional collaborative with allinternal and external stakeholders in modeling a safe, supportive, andrespectful demeanor, ensuring the highest quality services to all Targetparticipants.
6.Takes appropriate action based on circumstances;provides pertinent and comprehensive information to supervisory personnel.
7.Demonstrates the ability to manage personal time bybeing punctual and gives sufficient notice to immediate supervisor in case oftardiness or absenteeism per Target’s Attendance Policy.
8.Acts as an appropriate role model and representativeof Target as an agency as well as those employed by Target and those served.Chooses appropriate personal attire based on the circumstances. Maintainsappropriate overall appearance and demonstrates proper personal hygiene perTarget’s Attire and Grooming Policy.
9.Demonstrates awillingness to perform all essential duties and job functions with the safetyof the participants and self as a top priority; adheres to and complies withall safety guidelines taught in trainings.
B.ADMINISTRATIVE
1.Montgomery County Only:
a.Schedules shadowing and volunteer experiences withpotential employers to provide on the job training and analysis.
b.Conducts job analysis with participants whileproviding interviewing and application completion skills as needed.
c.Maintains and develops relationships withparticipants, families, and volunteer community sites.
d.Creates lesson plans for CDS groups.
2.Carroll County Only: Maintains and developsrelationships with participants, families, and paid employment sites.
3.Ensures that all mandated documentation related to theprovision of services to participants is completed accurately and submitted ina timely manner.
4.Provides supervision and guidance to allparticipants.
5.Attends and participates in Meaningful Day departmentmeetings or other meetings as needed.
6.Performs regular vehicle checks and completes andsubmits requests for vehicle repairs, as needed.
C.DIRECT CARE:
1.Assist the participants on the job as needed tomaintain their employment/volunteer positions.
2.Helps create any tools necessary to assist theparticipant on the job.
3.Ensure the highest quality of services are rendered.Provides supervision and guidance to all participants in a safe andhigh-quality environment.
4.Implements behavior management plans and work skillsprograms as designed.
5.Assures that all job tasks assigned to participantsboth on and off site are completed to the employers’ standards.
6.Ensures participants comply with all safetyregulations and procedures at their job/volunteer sites.
7.Transports participants in a company vehicle orpersonal vehicle to and from scheduled interviews, shifts, and training asneeded. Mileage reimbursement is available for use of personal vehicles butrequires proof of proper current insurance, kept with HR.
8.Provide travel training necessary prior to turning theparticipant over for job coaching services.
9.Maintains physical ability to restrain participants asneeded according to their behavioral program plans. The position also requiresthe ability to stand, bend, reach, lift 50 pounds, maneuver wheelchairs, andperform safe transfers of participants.
10.Comply with all Meaningful Day Services trainingincluding job-coaching training.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Other dutiesas assigned by the Director of Meaningful Day Services and/or Meaningful DayManager.
SUPERVISION:Supervised by the Director of Meaningful Day Services.
EVALUATION:After initial three month period, then annually during term of employment.
TERMS: Class 1, fulltime, non-exempt position. Scheduled hours may fluctuate to meet the needs ofthe participant. Evenings and weekends may be required.
