Targa Resources is Hiring a Measurement/ Oxygen Technician Near Artesia, NM

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Oxygen Technicians are responsible for the operation and maintenance of all remote stationary oxygen analyzers. Maintain portable test equipment in good working order. Complete and submit weekly activity update. Communicate with Producer field level personnel. Work well alone and with a team. Be on call and available to work nights and weekends on a rotating cycle. Track down and identify sources of oxygen entering the gas gathering system. Understand gas flow and use good logic when tracking down oxygen sources. Understand how to navigate to remote locations using GPS and coordinates. Willing to work outdoors in extreme hot and cold weather conditions. Be determined to overcome circumstances that can sometimes be difficult or frustrating (don’t give up easily).
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install new Oxygen Analyzers
  • Understand how to terminate electric wire connections.
  • Basic small tubing bending
  • Use hand tools to mount the analyzer
  • Basic programming scaling and calibrating analyzer
Operate and Maintain Oxygen Analyzers
  • Troubleshoot and make minor repairs.
  • Replace sensors and calibrate.
  • Remove analyzers needing repair and replace them with good functioning analyzer.
  • Perform monthly analyzer calibrations.
  • Complete and close out Maximo work orders.
Maintain test instruments and equipment.
  • Calibrate portable analyzer.
  • Perform safety inspections on test equipment for damage or wear and repair or replace as needed.
  • Replace consumable chemicals and media that removes hydrogen sulfide from analyzer sample stream.
  • Maintain work truck in good operating condition.
SCADA Communication
  • Understand the fundamentals of remote SCADA communications and how the analyzers interface with them.
  • Basic troubleshooting of SCADA communication equipment.
On-call responsibility
  • Be on call after normal business hours for 7-day period on rotating on-call cycle.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.
  • Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors.
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision
  • Solid computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions.
  • Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex).
  • Regular and Reliable Attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Working knowledge of natural gas gathering and processing.
  • Understanding of gas and liquid chromatography.
