TARC is Hiring a Building Maintenance A - Electrician Near LOUISVILLE, KY

Salary: $29.57/hr

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs advanced work in the general upkeep of all buildings and property. Inspects the premises on a daily bases to identify potential problems and conducts equipment maintenance and all repair work that does not require outside contracting. This position will support a safety and customer service culture through programs, procedures, and other related work to achieve TARC’s mission and strategic outcomes. The position is responsible for meeting or exceeding all TARC policies and procedures with strict adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations; and performing related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform quality checks and repairs on HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Perform repairs on electrical motors and building maintenance systems such as plumbing systems, skylights, roof, meters, hoist and water heaters.
  • Creates work orders and process procurement requests for supplies.
  • Communicates with supervisor regarding problems found with buildings and grounds .
  • Perform repairs on gates and fencing at various locations.
  • Perform floor repair or replacement where needed. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED; 
  • Two (2) years of related Building Maintenance experience 
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Kentucky or Indiana Commercial Class B Driver's License with a passenger and air brakes endorsements within 60 days of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Construction skills such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, roofing, painting and welding
  • Ability to use hand tools and other equipment needed to make repairs.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills for fixing maintenance issues
  • Various federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations relevant to the work performed.
  • Principles and techniques for working with groups and fostering effective team interaction to ensure teamwork is conducted smoothly.
  • The structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Computers and software programs (e.g., Microsoft software packages) to conduct research, assess information, and/or prepare documentation.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and oversee complex programmatic activities in service maintenance. 
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate service delivery methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of service maintenance program goals.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, using appropriate English grammar and syntax.
  • Prepare clear and concise administrative and management reports.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of business, including employees, contractors, the community, and the general public.
  • Effectively use computer systems, applications, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Incumbents generally work in a noisy environment with adequate light and temperature. There may be occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, loud noise, fumes, noxious odors, dust, mist, gases, and poor ventilation; must be able to see, hear and speak; and be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Work will require mobility including lifting or moving materials. Incumbents may interact with upset staff and/or members of the public in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
