As aSocial Worker for TaraVista in Devens, Massachusetts, you’ll bring your experience and knowledge where your voice matters. A Social Worker is an integral part of our multidisciplinary treatment team. You will provide direct care and support not only to our patients but also their families and make decisions that impact the lives of your peers, your patients, and your community. In exchange, we will care for you as much as you care for our patients.


How You Care for Our Patients

As a Social Worker:

  • Responsible for the psycho-social care and disposition of designated patients.
  • Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in discharge planning
  • Provides clinical or task supervision to other staff and/or interns as directed by Director and Assistant Director of Social Work
  • Demonstrates Trauma Informed Care practices by: maintaining appropriate personal and physical boundaries, meeting with patients in open areas, not disclosing information of a personal nature to patients
  • Utilizes Social Work model to assess patient’s/family needs, initiate appropriate interventions and assess patients outcomes according to policy
  • Completes Biopsychosocial Assessment of all patients within hospital policy, including meeting with family and/or guardians whenever possible
  • Participates in and clearly documents the development of a multidisciplinary treatment plan based on patient strengths, diagnoses and psychosocial profile
  • Develops a comprehensive discharge plan that is responsive to the needs of the patient, their family and the community
  • Coordinates and participates in discharge meeting with patient, family and community providers as needed
  • Contacts outpatient providers and agencies (e.g. PCPs, DSS, DMH, DMR, DYS, school systems, therapists, psychiatrists, residential program staff, probation officers, attorneys, etc.) as soon as possible following patient admission to coordinate treatment and discharge as ROIs are completed
  • Facilitate groups on units.
  • Documents accurately in the patient record using approved format and language that is appropriate for anyone, including the patient and family to read


You Bring Meaningful Experience

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • LCSW or license eligibility for LMHC required. LICSW or LMHC with prior experience working within an inpatient behavioral health or acute care settings preferred.
  • Child & Adolescent Needs & Strengths (CANS) Certification, required within 30 days of hire.
  • Prior experience working within an inpatient behavioral health setting, short-term treatment and/or acute care preferred.
  • Advanced level knowledge and experience in the application of clinical behavioral health treatment and family system modalities for patients with psychiatric illnesses, as well as risk and safety assessment
  • Sufficient typing and computer skills to facilitate use of Electronic Health Record required; experience with Electronic Health Record, including Medsphere/Vista preferred.
  • Possess advanced level knowledge and experience in the application of clinical behavioral health treatment and family system modalities for patients with psychiatric illnesses.
  • Possess an understanding of appropriate community support and systems available to patients after discharge. Demonstrate competency and possess the knowledge base, skill, and ability to work in an acute inpatient setting.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
