Overview

Tantus Technologies, Inc. (Tantus) - recognized by the Washington Post as a Top Workplace - is seeking a Quality Assurance Test Engineer. This role is responsible for testing and delivering complex software to accomplish business outcomes. These individuals are subject matter experts on testing practices ensuring that software is tested to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. They help condition and generate test data, build, and execute manual test suites; record and communicate the test results; and assist with triaging defects. They also ensure regression test suites are well designed and maintained. This role will also work closely with the Test Automation Engineer to establish and maintain the automation framework.

What You'll Do

• Develop detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases based on functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
• Lead test planning, usually at a team level. When part of a Scrum team, ensure stories are well refined and contain clear acceptance criteria.
• Ensure in-scope and out-of-scope items are clearly identified during test planning.
• Implement the test framework for the team.
• Lead test case reviews and work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure test coverage.
• Collaborate with the Test Automation Engineer to identify automation opportunities and develop test automation for applicable test types.
• Help condition and generate test data and ensure data compliance requirements are met on all levels of test environments. Assist in identifying and managing sensitive test data.
• Execute test cases, including manual and automated tests, and record test results.
• Report issues and defects along with the appropriate background information for review.
• Participate in triaging reported issues/defects and assist with resolving or escalating them as necessary.
• Create and manage traceability. Trace tests forwards/backwards through the development lifecycle and back to requirements.
• Use testing tools and follow processes to complete testing on a given test environment and assist with fulfillment of necessary steps required to promote code base to higher level environments.
• Maintain and catalog test suites across test types (smoke, integration, regression, etc.)

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 5-7 years of experience
• At least three (3) years’ experience as a tester developing test cases
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working within an Agile development methodology (Scrum and Kanban)
• Solid understanding of web technologies, including HTML/CSS/JavaScript
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including inspection of a web page “under the hood” using the browser developer tools
• Strong understanding of requirements traceability and Agile Software Development Lifecycle (ASDLC),including DevSecOps and CI/CD
• Experience working closely with technical and business project team members to understand product requirements
• Designing and maintaining logical test plans that others can follow
• Expertise with automated testing tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Node JS etc. is a plus but not required
• Experience using Azure DevOps is a plus but not required

Abilities

• Well-organized and self-directed individual; ability to balance and prioritize competing requirements

• Experience using Postman for testing APIs is a plus
