Nurse practitioner provides patient services through the performance of patient evaluation, assessment and treatment in the medical office setting as allowed by state licensure laws under the supervision of the medical director. The nurse practitioner works closely with the clinic staff, hospital departments and community agencies.

Qualifications
  • Able to communicate effectively with medical and hospital staff and various populations in clinics and public screening events.
  • ACLS recommended.
  • Additional certification will be required for some specialties (i.e. ACLS, PALS)
  • Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Georgia
  • Graduate of a recognized program for Nurse Practitioner training (MSN).
  • Must be capable of dealing tactfully and effectively with patients, family members, other employees and physicians
  • Must maintain high degree of confidentiality.
  • Must meet credentialing criteria.

Requirements:
Area of Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills. Communicates effectively with patients and management regarding service recovery opportunities. Works together with other team members to achieve Office and System customer service goals.
  • Development: Maintain and update level of skill for pertinent medical assistant duties. Participates in continuing education. Participates in the development of new programs (ex: Process Improvement, Quality Initiatives).
  • Patient Care: Performs evaluations, provide treatment and counsel patients. Order and interpret test results and recommend treatment of patients. Administer therapeutic procedures. Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval. Provide physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures. Demonstrates specialty and population specific competencies. Demonstrates an ability to effectively communicate based on specific specialty and population. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising physician.
  • Quality: Maintains evidence based medical care and clinical charting. Participates with clinical tracking and feedback. Integrates with clinical and administrative teams to administer high quality care.
  • Teamwork: Works well with others and functions as a team player. Offers ideas and solutions for issues that affect the team and work area. Participates in the training and skills development of new clinical staff. Assists as needed.
Compliance Statement
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
