A New York City health services system is currently seeking an experienced, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Medical-Surgical Department as their new Director of Nursing. In this role, the Director of Nursing - Medical-Surgical will be responsible for organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the nursing service and nursing education programs of a health are setting or diagnostic and treatment center.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Nursing - Medical-Surgical will:

• Coordinate functions of nursing services with other disciplines, collaborates with administrative staff, other department staff and representatives of allied groups in planning services
• Determine staffing requirements in relation to patient care standards and develop procedures to maintain an adequate, competent nursing staff
• Maintain a system of continuing evaluation of nursing service provided for patients
• Maintain up-to-date policy procedure manuals for all nursing units and evaluates their effectiveness
• Direct the preparation of the personnel, equipment and supply budgets for the Nursing Department
• Direct the development and implementation of orientation, training and continuing education programs for nursing personnel
• Plans for and coordinate use of clinical facilities by colleges and other agencies for nursing education purposes
• Participates in the development of policies and health programs for the health care setting and system policies and programs involving nursing
• Develop and maintain sound relationships with the community, labor and professional groups in developing nursing programs and policies
• Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Management experience in Medical-Surgical setting
