Tandem Health is Hiring a Psychiatrist-Clinical Director of Behavioral Health - Telemedicine (Full-time or Part-time) Near Sumter, SC

LeadershipDuties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical supervision,leadership and support to all Behavioral Health Providers.
  • Works collaboratively with the ChiefMedical Officer in monitoring the performance of the EMR system.
  • Leads and maintains an effectivequality improvement/quality assurance program for Behavioral Health and, whenrequired, assists in moving to the next level (NCQA/PCMH).
  • Assist the appropriate staff in thesolicitation, development, management and evaluation of any grants deemednecessary and useful to the function of Tandem Health's Behavioral Healthservices. Provides input for grant reports as necessary.
  • Reviews and makes recommendationsfor content in individual Practice Agreements for Advanced Practice Providers(i.e. Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants).
  • Monitors Provider office and phonecall schedules, as well as client appointments and staffing patterns to ensureservices are responsive and will ultimately provide optimal outcomes.
  • Participates in educational eventsin the community and at Tandem Health to increase awareness of health-relatedissues.
  • Works with the Chief ClinicalOfficer to investigate and resolve Behavioral Health patient grievancesregarding clinical quality of care.
  • Fosters and supports linkages withappropriate specialists, sub-specialists and related services.
  • Demonstrates professionalinteractions with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Establishes and maintains effectiveworking relationships with individuals of various cultural, ethnic, andsocioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Participates in initiatives andconcerns involving patient safety, quality, infection control, risk managementand patient service, especially those related to Providers.
  • Leads the Behavioral Health team'sparticipation in Tandem Health's Continuous Performance Improvement (“CPI”)Plan and other clinical quality activities for improving the quality of patientcare, including but not limited to overseeing the Behavioral Health peer reviewprocess and compliance with clinical measures; makes recommendations forcontinuing education opportunities and requests for Behavioral HealthProviders.
  • Reports on progress of goals andother relevant data at the Tandem Health Provider/CPI/Rx P&T Quarterly Meetings.
  • Participates as a member of TandemHealth's Medical Privileging Review Committee.
  • Works with Human Resources in therecruitment, selection, and retention of highly qualified and skilledPhysicians and Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Manages the orientation and trainingof Behavioral Health Provider hires.
  • Provides coaching and performancefeedback to Behavioral Health Providers utilizing Tandem Health-approvedperformance feedback tools and methods, ensuring completion of performanceappraisals in a timely fashion.

ClinicalDuties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct, clinicallycompetent, medical care in an ambulatory setting that includes examinations,evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, follow-up, consultations, and healtheducation for patients within scope of expertise and in accordance with the appropriateorganizations.
  • Prescribes and/or administersrecommended therapies, medications and other specialized medical care to treator prevent illness, disease, or injury, to include referring clients tospecialists and/or other medical providers, as necessary/appropriate.
  • Monitors the condition and progressof all Behavioral Health and re-evaluates treatment plans as necessary andappropriate.
  • Educates patients and theircaregivers regarding health and illness prevention as well as recommendresources to meet their needs. 
  • Instructs patients and caregiversregarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Adheres to established clinicalprotocols and procedures.
  • Supervises or participates inpatient emergencies as required.
  • Participates in after-hours phone call rotation for Behavioral Health
  • Performs all functions andresponsibilities based upon Tandem Health's policies and procedures; guidelinesof applicable board certifying entities.
  • Maintains complete medical recordsin the established chart.
  • Observes all infection controlprocedures.
  • Follows established health centerprocedures for patient billing and reimbursement.
  • Participates in quality assuranceand other committee activities as assigned.
  • Reports any discrepancies,irregularities, and/or violations involving clinical care, administrativeprocedure, billing issues or other protocols to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains professional competence bycompleting appropriate specialty requirements of CME.
  • Maintains current certifications.
  • Attends required meetings andparticipates in committees as assigned.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Participates in professionaldevelopment activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Successfully completes Tandem Healthcredentialing and privileging upon hire, and re-privileging, as required.
  • Fulfills HRSA and health centerproductivity standards.
  • Participates in staff medicaleducation programs and patient health educational activities as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned bysupervisor.

Qualifications:

  • M.D./D.O. licensure in the state ofSouth Carolina
  • Successful completion of a residencytraining program in Psychiatry
  • Current board certification orboard-eligible with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
