Job Summary
Job Summary: Provides Traditional Counseling in a remote Recovery Camp environment. This position requires knowledge and experience in Alaska Native traditional practices and working in remote areas, with primarily Alaska Native clientele and their families. This position is primarily responsible for implementing services using traditional practices to be used in recovery from substance abuse. Services provided by this position ensure that the cultural context and integrity of the recovery camp treatment model is maintained.
Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.
Essential Functions

Representative Duties: Under direct supervision of the OMFRC Manager and secondary supervision provided by the Clinical Supervisor job incumbent will:
1. Facilitate a variety of structured traditional/cultural groups, individual, and family activities designed to model and reinforce recovery and healing from substance abuse in conjunction with treatment plans.
2. Provide oversight of operations of the camp as instructed by the OMFRC Manager.
3. Assist in the delivery of services as instructed by the Clinical Supervisor.
4. Provide information to camp counselors to document client progress and cultural activities.
5. Provide a traditional and cultural perspective, aiding and mentoring OMFRC counselors in development of treatment plans and ongoing case management.
6. Adhere to confidentiality standards regarding records and disclosure of patient information.

Minimum Qualifications

2. Extensive knowledge of Alaska Native cultural and traditional values required.
3. Experience working in remote areas.
4. Knowledge and ability to operate riverboats, snow machines, four wheelers and a variety of power tools safely preferred.
5. Valid driver's license preferred.
6. One year sobriety required, U.A. monitored.
7. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
8. Must pass background check pursuant to Alaska DHSS and federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge and understanding of co-occurring related issues.
2. Functional awareness of cross cultural issues in counseling.
3. Strong verbal communication, analytical and interpersonal skills required.
4. Must have initiative and ability to prioritizing.
5. Must work as part of a team providing quality care.
6. Knowledge and ability to adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability act (HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality regulations.
Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
