Job Summary

Job Summary: Job incumbent is responsible for the administration and management of the TCC Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Job incumbent provides clinical therapeutic nutrition services for the WIC participants. Incumbent will work cooperatively with all TCC Health Services division and programs to provide quality nutrition and health services.
Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion, and empathy.


Essential Functions

Representative Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Diabetes and WIC Program Manager the job incumbent will:
1. Coordinate all activities of the TCC WIC Program.
2. Oversee budget and cost control of WIC Grant Funds; coordinate with TCC Accounting and the State of Alaska (SOA) Grants Administrator as needed.
3. Accomplish quarterly and annual WIC Program Objectives identified by the State WIC office, the TCC WIC program and TCC Health Services.
4. Collaborate with TCC Health Services Admin and Accounting to ensure annual renewal of SOA WIC Grant. Prepare and submit quarterly reports for SOA agencies and other reports as requested or required.
5. Provide leadership and direct supervision, evaluation, and training of WIC program staff members.
6. Represent TCC in meetings and at conferences hosted by TCC and SOA WIC.
7. Provide clinical nutrition intervention and counseling for high risk WIC participants, sign and submit all enteral prescription nutrition requests (ENPR), and provide appropriate follow-up. Provide dietetic consultant services to CAIHC and TCC staff as requested.
8. Organize village travel requirements for the WIC program.
9. Act on behalf of the Diabetes and WIC Program manager on an as needed basis.

Other Responsibilities:
1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, Masters preferred.
2. Registered Dietitian licensed in the State of Alaska, or eligible for licensure in the State of Alaska through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
3. Five years of experience in health care or public health services programs as a registered dietitian.
4. Alaska WIC Coordinator program experience preferred.
5. Must pass background check pursuant to the State of Alaska background check and federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Working knowledge of electronic health records and desktop productivity applications. Preference for experience working in SOA WIC charting system and in submitting grant applications.
2. Must maintain client/patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPPA and other applicable statues and laws.
3. Must possess exemplary communication, time management, and customer service skills.
4. Must successfully pass state and federal background checks.
5. Ability to manage own schedule and the programs. Prioritize various tasks and competing deadlines.

Supervision:
This position supervises WIC Program staff.


Supervision

Physical demands: Job incumbent may be required at times to lift and carry up to twenty five pounds. Incumbent will travel to villages/rural areas to provide nutrition education usually four times a year.

Summation: Incumbent will demonstrate and analyze situations and take appropriate action, by practicing excellent follow-through skills, perseverance, flexibility, attention to detail, and ability to respond quickly to changing priorities while staying focused during multiple interruptions. Must complete tasks with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and speed and have the ability to communicate effectively. Incumbent must demonstrate discretion, good judgment and tact when dealing with people. Incumbent must be able to perform efficiently under pressure, to prioritize workload, and to maintain high level of quality performance.
