TAMKO is Hiring a Maintenance Technician - hourly rate $32.05 Near Joplin, MO

TAMKO Building Products LLC is seeking a Maintenance Team Member at our High Street plant in Joplin, Missouri. This position works within the Maintenance Department and provides industrial maintenance and troubleshooting services to various production lines and support equipment the High Street Plant. The candidate selected for this role performs routine preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance to production and support equipment. The candidate is also tasked with maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing investigative tasks on PLCs, HMIs, and automated systems on the manufacturing floor. The equipment includes but is not limited to engines, motors, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, material conveyance systems, and production machinery. While this is a maintenance position, the candidate selected will also be required to work outside of the maintenance department in production or shipping if needed. The candidate selected will work independently on rotating night and day shift as part of larger team of maintenance and production personnel.

  • Participates in facility maintenance for shingle manufacturing and support equipment.
  • Fabricates, installs, and repairs various production and support equipment.
  • Cleans, adjusts, precision aligns, and lubricates equipment in compliance with plant reliability maintenance standards.
  • Removes, repairs, and reinstalls all types of equipment including but not limited to gear driven reducers, electrical motors, asphalt pumps, electrical and controls components.
  • Installs spherical, thrust, radial and line-shaft bearings on pumps, motors, conveyor rolls and other rotating equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and/or controls issues and implements corrective action to restore proper operation.
  • Completes required paperwork to document work completed.
  • Generates work procedures for tasks that have not been defined previously and documents in designated computerized locations.
  • Uses Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and updates database with assigned work order status. Uses SAP software to log work tasks, PMs, work orders, and spare part control.
  • Tests and calibrates process control equipment to established operational settings, limits, and parameters.
  • Participates actively in safety meetings and structured training, both in-house and off-site.
  • Works in a safe manner under established work methods, policies, and procedures.
  • Consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent. Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
  • Works rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and overtime as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required. Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college, technical school, or equivalent military training and experience preferred. Technical degree in Industrial Electrical, Controls, or Automation-based field is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, find, and correct mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Knowledge of precision maintenance tools and methods, shaft alignment, belt tensioning, sprocket/pulley alignment, setting bearing tolerances, and proper fastener torque required.
  • Proficient using electrical testing meters for troubleshooting including amperage, resistance, voltage, and data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience maintaining industrial automation process utilizing Siemens 505 and S7 PLCs, Siemens AC Vector Drives, and Wonderware is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, AC/DC motors and drives, and 480-volt 3 phase power preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of SAP software preferred.
  • Employee must be able to work rotating shifts, split shifts, and overtime.

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with the assistance of another person. 
  • The job is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • While performed the duties of the job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical systems and around/near energized electrical systems while following necessary safety procedures and wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Employee must be able to position himself/herself to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and operate plant equipment. This may require climbing stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, and/or stooping.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces and wear a respirator.
  • Employee may be exposed to fume, odors, and airborne particles. PPE including respirators will be required, as necessary. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high places, extreme cold, extreme heat, and confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and hearing protection is provided and required to be worn at all times while working in designated areas.
