Tamim Academy West Michigan is seeking an Educator to oversee the implementation of the educational philosophy and methodology of Tamim Academies in addition to teaching in a small Kindergarten/1st grade classroom (between 6-10 children). Educators at Tamim Academy focus on empowering students to reach their potential across all areas of life. Our educators seek the long-term social and emotional health of their students while also ensuring that academic rigor is firmly rooted within the school’s curriculum. The ideal candidate is a gifted learner-centered educator, a warm and empathic communicator, and a tireless advocate for children.

The Educator is a full time position with standard work hours Monday through Friday 9 AM to 4 PM. The Educator will have paid daily prep time and administrative work time. Professional development and 1:1 coaching sessions will be provided during the work day. The School Year will run September through June with 2-3 weeks of training and preparation time in August.

• Contribute to the growth of the school through effective communication, individual initiative, and in response to the needs/requests of the community.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive, transparent relationships with parents and educators.
• Ensure that the school achieves growth and quality goals with efficient use of resources.
• Work alongside educators to determine students’ academic and social emotional learning objectives and ensure that they’re met.
• Ensure that learning targets and outcomes are communicated to colleagues, parents, and students on a regular basis including a weekly newsletter and monthly progress reports shared with parents on student goals and achievements.
• Promote excellence and improvement in all areas of teaching, learning and administration.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
• Prior experience with creating whole-child learning activities, including classroom teaching experience with students at the relevant age band
• Prior experience with demonstrated academic results and fostering social emotional learning in student experiences
• Passion for working with and engaging children in student driven learning
• Commitment to continuous professional learning, collaboration, improvement and a willingness to share lessons learned
• Collaborative mindset and a ‘can do’ attitude to overcoming obstacles.
