Job Summary The Associate Director, Alumni Engagement is a key member of the Alumni Engagement Team and Office of Advancement. The Associate Director is responsible for developing alumni engagement strategy and supporting multiple alumni communities. This position provides oversight and support to multiple alumni groups and identifies opportunities to expand the breadth and depth of alumni engagement. This role will also increase pipeline development, alumni career connections, global alignment, and affinity connections, working towards increasing the percent of alumni engaged and other key metrics. The Associate Director collaborates with team members and other departments to build relationships with alumni, students, and staff.
This position is based in Chicago, requires occasional non-traditional work hours, and up to 20% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing, directing, and evaluating the vision for alumni engagement worldwide.
  • Engages in relationship and volunteer management activities, identifying interests, cultivating engagement, and connecting alumni to Chicago Booth. Manage a portfolio of high profile/high-level alumni volunteers. 
  • Plans, organizes, and engages alumni based communities and activities around the world.
  • Coordinates, develops, and plans events and programs in partnership with volunteer leaders and ambassadors.
  • Leads and assists with the research and development of new programs, events, and initiatives to increase alumni engagement.
  • Coordinates communication to alumni including collaboration with the Dean’s Office, Advancement Communications, Booth Marketing, and University Alumni Relations.
  • Partners across the organization within Booth Advancement, and across Chicago Booth, with University Alumni Relations and Development, and other offices within the University. 
  • Inputs and assess metrics and progress towards goals.
  • Contributes to the general advancement of alumni engagement at Chicago Booth.
  • Assists in leading and coordinating the planning, organization, and management of events, programs, and services designed to cultivate and maintain ties between the University of Chicago and key constituent groups. May assist in or individually create a marketing plan to maximize participation and engagement of alumni, parents, and friends.
  • Has a deep understanding of strategic planning, data management, the creation and tracking of metrics, and the creation and implementation of new constituent relations programs worldwide. Measures, tracks, and reports participation and success of initiatives.
  • Has a deep understanding of fundraising operations for a school or department of the University. Participates in the development of fundraising goals, policies and short and long-term strategies. Assesses, analyzes and evaluates fundraising programs, specialized projects or major events.
  • Participates in the development of school or department fiscal year operating budget. May help develop and manage program or event budget.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum five years of experience in alumni relations, development, staffing volunteer organization, or corporate sales or marketing.
