Talent Strategy is Hiring a Quality Technician Near New Baltimore, MI

Quality Layout Technician

Location: New Baltimore, MI

Shift: 1st shift, 7am-3:30pm

Pay: $25-$29/hour based on experience

Job Overview-

The Layout Technician oversees and ensures compliance overall to inspection measurement equipment certifications and calibrations.

Responsibilities of Position-

  • Manage/Maintain Inspection Measurement Equipment Calibration/Certification System (Use of software application deemed by the company).
  • Develop, maintain lab scope and calibration procedures, documents and forms.
  • Perform Gage R&R’s and on-going gage testing.
  • Order/maintain Gage calibration and certification system.
  • Inspect contour gages-Annual/Initial/Verification/validation.
  • Understand measuring Systems Analysis (MSA) with specific attention to gage R&R’s (Variable and attribute).
  • Perform lab testing by following and understand procedures.
  • Answer questions regarding proper use and care of measuring equipment, acceptable and unacceptable product etc.
  • Re-train operators, team leads and etc. on how to perform required quality checks using inspection measurement equipment.
  • May be required to travel to other TI plants and/or customer sites (possible overnight via air or long automobile trips).
  • Understanding of Customer Specific Requirements, Quality Management Systems and AIAG Standards.
  • Excellent attendance.
  • Must be reliable.
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.

Skill Requirements-

  • Ability to read blueprints including geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) schemes.
  • Ability to read, understand customer and equipment prints including documentation.
  • Individual must be highly motivated and self-directed with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to train employees both individuals and in groups.
  • Must be able to perform gage certifications and calibration.
  • Understands Quality Audit System (SPC charts, Poka-Yokes, Inspections, etc).
  • Work in a team environment and communicate effectively in fast-pace automotive environment, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must have experience with various vision measurement systems.
  • Experience with tensile testers is a plus.

Education and Experience Requirements-

  • Minimum of High School Education.
  • One year of previous experience in a quality role (Quality Tech, Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer etc. Preferred).
  • Fluent computer skills required (Microsoft Office).
  • Must be willing to continue training/education deemed necessary by the Company.

Licensing or Special Certification Requirements-

  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements-

  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
  • Occasionally work with chemicals, grease, oils, machinery with moving parts, moving vehicles, hands in water, alone and more than 40 hours.
