Tait Towers is Hiring an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer Near Lititz, PA

Position Purpose

As an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer (AMDE) at TAIT, you will be responsible for project-based work that focuses on specialized machinery and fabrications for the entertainment technology industry. You will work to gain a full understanding of TAIT safety and quality processes while also being aware of standard design principles and practices. You will be responsible for developing designs from concept through to detailed design. Additionally, you will be responsible for collaborating with all departments, rendering support to the production teams, project management, and management. 

Minimum Qualifications

To perform the essential responsibilities, individuals must have the following level of education and experience, or equivalent combination. Additionally, the following certifications, knowledge, skills, or physical requirements are necessary for the position.

  • Associate/ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Design, CADD, Technical Theatre, or Machine Design preferred, or equivalent experience
    • Experience in the performing arts is a plus
  • Knowledge of TAIT’s markets (live entertainment, location based experience, brand experience, placemaking) and competition
  • Experience with 2D sketches and 3D CAD modeling
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Learn and follow standard design principles and practices with extensive supervision
  • Uphold professional and ethical responsibilities, including honesty, respect for life, law, environment, public good, accuracy, rigor, leadership, and communication
  • Handle project kits or small complexity/risk project elements under supervision of others
  • Resolve technical issues with supervision to gain expertise through real world application
  • Utilize CAD platforms to create 2D sketches, hand sketch schematics, and draw full 3D models
  • Understand the importance of efficient design process and urgency level
  • Develop designs from concept to detailed design, design reviews, and release of production drawings
  • Produce overview packets to support client approval and internal communication processes
  • Utilize CAD tools and internal file structure to document designs properly
  • Collaborate with all departments, participate in design reviews, understand capabilities of machining and fab, material selection for in-house capabilities and outside vendors
  • Understand standard solutions, client drawing needs, and design decisions must be backed by rationale 
  • Understand plans, schedules, documents, and activities for assigned elements or projects
  • Understand overall department objectives and high-level project matters, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters
  • Receive guidance on application of standard engineering principles and practices
  • Understand scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
  • Understand plans, schedules, documents, and activities for assigned elements or projects
  • Understand and follow TAIT safety and quality processes
  • Interact with clients, suppliers, external & third-party professional bodies & contractors, colleagues (internally and externally to the department), and others, while representing the company positively, building rapport, and demonstrating integrity and respect
  • Attend inter-disciplinary project meetings as appropriate
  • Participate in interview process of new Design and Engineering staff, and on-board new staff
