Job SummarySam Schwartz, a TYLin company, is seeking a Transportation Planner with strong graphic skills and interest in landside operation of airports/complex facilities, to join an interdisciplinary team of consultants (planning, graphic design, data analysis, transportation engineering) who can contribute to a variety of projects in the New York City region and around the country focused on traffic operations planning and airport landside access.
The ideal candidate would be able to work collaboratively with various project teams, focus on solutions-based problem-solving, be creative in leveraging and visualizing complex data, and understand the level of detail required for effectively communicating project components with various stakeholder groups. They would be able to take initiative in learning new techniques, skills, and software and enjoy identifying the best way to communicate complex issues and solutions graphically through the production of reports and presentations.Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities would include:

  • Conducting research and organizing information in clear and concise ways
  • Contributing to the writing and production of project presentations and reports
  • Developing thematic maps and diagrams
  • Designing infographics, data visualizations, and graphic representations of various transportation concepts
  • Analyzing transportation data and synthesizing results into communicative charts
  • Participating in collaborative brainstorming and mitigation planning exercises, including innovative solutions to address parking management, leveraging technology to improve curb management, identifying transportation demand management strategies, and improving the customer experience.
  • Occasional fieldwork and site visits

Skills

The ideal candidate would possess a combination of the following qualities:

  • 0 to 2 years of urban design/planning experience
  • Degree in urban design, urban planning, architecture, or related field
  • Open to grow within the landside airport and aviation planning field
  • Strong graphical communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
  • Familiarity with programming languages design (Python, R, etc.) is a plus
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus

Preferential consideration will be given to applicants include a resume, cover letter, and work sample(s) highlighting graphic communication skills (link or PDF) in their submission.

Sam Schwartz is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $59,500- $89,300 annually for this position and local market. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills, experience, education, and competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer.
