ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:The successful candidate will focus his/her research activities on tropical neglected parasites in the Cusco region of Peru. This person will work closely with Dr. Cabada to generate research projects and funding to grow the program at the UTMB and UPCH Collaborative Research Center in Cusco (AKA Cusco Branch of the Tropical Medicine Institute of Universidad Peruana Heredia).
This person will be expected to perform the following activities:
Dr. Cabada will act as the primary mentor to this faculty and provide guidance and direction for their career development. By the end of the third year, this faculty member will have research funding to cover at least 50% of his/her research salary according to the NIH salary cap for that year.
Clinical (FTE 0.3)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:MD degree or equivalent, Board certified or eligible in ABIM Infectious Diseases. Must have completed an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency. Possess or eligible for full medical license in the State of Texas.
SALARY:Commensurate with experience.
