Salary Details:Graduate Assistants will be on 10 month contracts and will start at $12.00 an hour/25 hours per week. GA salary can help cover tuition and living expenses. The Graduate Assistant is responsible for health insurance and housing.

Candidates should submit their resume and cover letter in the application. *Ensure to specify which position you are apply.Graduate Assistant for FitnessThe Graduate Assistant for Fitness is responsible for assisting in the oversight of all aspects of the Fitness and Wellness programs within Campus Recreation. The position will work within a structured program designed to provide quality fitness experiences for all participants. This position will work collaboratively with the other Graduate Assistants as well as professional staff members in Campus Recreation. This position is a 10-month commitment and reports to the Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the administration of all Fitness and Wellness programs.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and supervise group fitness instructors and personal trainers.
  • Facilitate and lead all group exercise and personal training staff meetings.
  • Assist in the planning, implementing, scheduling, and evaluating of all programs including group exercise, personal training, wellness programming, and special events.
  • Teach at least two group exercise classes or personal training per semester and be readily available to sub as needed.
  • Assist with policy development and enforcement.
  • Stay up-to-date with records of all group fitness instructor and personal trainer certifications.
  • Present information about Campus Recreation and specifically the fitness program during campus wide events such as New Student Orientation, Admissions Visitation Days and at other promotional opportunities
  • Assist in conducting employee and participant disciplinary conferences as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining all social media platforms.
  • Develop and teach Instructor Training Course.
  • Provide support for marketing and advertising efforts on campus to include fitness brochures, flyers, posters, list-serve, and mail-outs.
  • Research information for future events, programs, or projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator for Fitness and Wellness.
Graduate Assistant for Facility OperationsThe Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting in the oversight of all Campus Recreation facilities and their operations. The position oversees student development trainings and opportunities for Campus Recreation student staff. This position will work collaboratively with the other Graduate Assistants as well as professional staff members in Campus Recreation. Daily responsibilities include managing the facility operations team, general marketing and communications and assisting with departmental events. This position is a 10-month commitment and reports to the Coordinator for Fitness and Wellness.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of facilities including: maintaining equipment, supervising student staff, and performing daily check-ins to the facilities.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and supervise all facilities staff to include 35 facility attendants and 15 student supervisors.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of staff trainings to include risk management, customer service, problem solving and employee relations.
  • Facilitate and lead all student supervisor and staff meetings to keep employees informed.
  • Assist with policy development and enforcement.
  • Assist in conducting employee and participant disciplinary conferences.
  • Stay up-to-date with student employees’ CPR/AED/First Aid certifications
  • Manage facility reservation requests for all Campus Recreation facilities that includes: Carter Gym, Student Union Fitness Center, Melvin Outdoor Courts, Sand Volleyball Courts, and IM Fields.
  • Present information about Campus Recreation during campus wide events, New Student Orientation, Admissions Visitation Days and at other promotional opportunities.
  • Research information and implement future events, programs, or projects for Campus Recreation and collaborating with other departments on campus.
  • Assist in maintaining all social media platforms.
  • Ensure all marketing materials and facility information is current and campus-wide.
  • Implement professional development opportunities for Campus Recreation student staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Recreation.
