Syracuse VA Medical Center is Hiring a Registered Nurse - Operating Room Near Syracuse, NY

HIRING MOTIVATED NURSES FOR SYRACUSE VAMC, SYRACUSE N.Y

The operating rooms specialize in caring for adult and geriatric Veterans during the peri-operative experience. The operating rooms provide many services including general surgery, ear, nose and throat, ophthalmic, vascular, thoracic, urologic, podiatric, orthopedic, endoscope and laparoscopic and neurological. The nurse has the technical and operational knowledge and clinical skills to function as a circulating and scrub nurse in all services. The nurse must demonstrate a variety of specialized diagnostic and treatment procedures. The nurse is accountable to promoting patient safety, continuity/quality of care and general well-being of the patient. The nurse collaborates with physicians and ancillary services to provide this care. The nurse analyzes and upgrades patient care through quality improvement activities. Strives to maintain clinical competencies through continuous study, in-services, and participation in obtaining continuing education units. May be required to rotate to other shifts dependent upon patient need.

The OR RN assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the perioperative phase. Provided patient and family education and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Core elements of performance include knowledge and competence of The Association of peri Operative Registered Nurses (AORN) standards.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Work Schedule: 7-1530, 7-1730, 9-1730, 8-1630, Monday through Friday with call
