Description
Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA), operator of Syracuse Hancock International Airport, is seeking part-time Airport Police Officers for the police force at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Responsibilities, under the supervision of the Airport Police Captain, include enforcing federal and state laws and local ordinances and maintaining order at Syracuse Hancock International Airport while conducting community policing and routine patrol duties on an assigned shift. We are seeking individuals who are community-service oriented.
Part-time candidates must be able to work a regular schedule of 16-24 hours each week, not to exceed 29 hours per week on average.
The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority Police has the following shifts:
A Watch - 12am-8am
B Watch - 8am-4pm
C Watch - 4pm-12am
Salary and Benefits for part-time police officers:
· $35.00 per hour, plus shift differential
· New York State Police and Fire Retirement System (PFRS)

Minimum Qualifications
Must have active Basic Police Officer Certification (BCPO) for the State of New York at the time of appointment.
Citizenship: Candidates must be citizens of the United States at time of appointment.
License: Possession of a valid New York State driver's license at time of appointment and must be maintained during length of employment.
Physical: Candidates must meet the prescribed general physical and medical conditions as stated in the Municipal Police Training Council standards.
Moral Character: Candidates must be of a good moral character with no conviction of a felony. Conviction of a misdemeanor or other offense, including traffic violation, may bar appointment.
For Retired Police Officers: Must be licensed to carry a firearm and have arrest authority.
Other requirements
*Any offer of employment is contingent on passing a security clearance background check and pre-employment drug test and physical.
*Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
*Position is currently provisional with Civil Service. Being reachable on the competitive examination may be required for permanent appointment.
*SRAA will support 211-waiver application; however, approval is at the discretion of New York State Commission on Civil Service.
