REPORTS TO: Director of Fine Arts

POSITION PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Director, the Drill Writer is responsible for the creation of the drill for the Marching Band.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include:

With input from the marching band and color guard staff, designs the drill for the performing ensemble.

Assist in the instructional delivery of Marching techniques according to their drill design.

Engage students to practice, play and perform introduced materials.

Instruct students in routines and techniques for the purpose of teaching and improving fundamental skills.

Attend rehearsals, sectionals and performances actively participating in assisting students in sectionals and whole group rehearsals; supply feedback, including edits, via staff meetings.

Assist director in selecting appropriate marching band and color guard visuals to enhance all performances on the field.

Monitor and control student behavior according to established procedures and share any concerns, etc. with the Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have musical experience with instruments, color guard, marching band
• Must be available from July 1 st - November 1 st for Marching Band season/performances

SALARY: As per Unit 1 contract, $2,500 per season
