Crisis Residential Facility in Riverside County is looking to hire Mental Health Workers
Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for Synergy Estate roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay at Synergy Estate in good faith believing it pays for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Provide direct programmatic and activity care to residents under the direction of the Therapist. Assumes responsibility for completing all assigned duties. Works cooperatively with treatment team personnel in the clinical setting.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent or experience in mental health setting or a certification in mental health preferred. Motivated to be directly involved with patients. Effective verbal and written communication in English. Patience in stressful situations. Ability to work flexible hours. A passion for helping others. First Aid required. Management Assaultive Behavior (MAB) is required within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Occasional sitting for long periods of time. Frequent walking, standing, bending and reaching. Occasional lifting with assistance up to 250 pounds. Frequent pulling and pushing up to 100 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. Finger dexterity. Constant exposure to stressful situation. Constant patient contact.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent exposure to noise. Occasional exposure to dirt, dust, smoke and fumes. Occasional exposure to cold, heat, chemicals and general cleaning chemicals. Rare exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Shift hours may vary dependent upon department needs to include weekends and holidays.

MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* General Staff Accountabilities

Effectively protects all health information from unauthorized access per HIPAA regulations and all applicable local and state laws.
Maintains required certification/license in a timely fashion.
Exhibits good attendance and punctuality.
Provides appropriate notice prior to vacation/time off and notifies supervisor a minimum of two hours prior to shift when unable to come to work.
Observes allotted break and meal periods as prescribed by the Crisis Residential Facility policy and follows time card procedures by accurately recording in and out.
Attends to personal affairs to avoid any interference with productivity.
Adheres to the Dress Code.
Demonstrates an understanding of their personal role in the case of fire/disaster and participates in Performance Improvement activities.
Functions with an awareness of patient safety issues and applies basic principles of safety as identified within the facility.
Follows the occurrence reporting policy and procedure in reporting any potential safety issues.

Demonstrates ability to communicate with clients in a professional manner, making them feel welcomed and safe
Demonstrates the ability to report escalating behavior to the Therapist, Physician and/or Program Director/Administrator and use de-escalation techniques to avoid the use of Seclusion and Restraints
Demonstrates ability to take vital signs accurately and report to the Physician
Demonstrates ability to orient clients upon admission, collect their belongings, identify contraband and explain the unit expectations
Demonstrates ability to monitor patients on the different levels of observation if needed (Q15/Q5/1:1), SP1, AWOL1, AS1.
Demonstrates the ability to help clients with any needs: Washing clothes, filling out forms, ADLs in a respectful manner
Demonstrate understanding of patients’ rights.
Demonstrates the ability to identify possible abuse issues and how to report
Demonstrates the ability to breakdown a chart in the proper order after client discharges
Demonstrates the ability to actively engage with clients throughout their stay
Demonstrates the ability to work independently with assigned tasks
Demonstrates the ability to chart and report unusual behaviors legibly on a progress note
Demonstrates understanding of Emergency codes and responsibilities in each
Demonstrates the ability to collect a urine specimen
Verbalizes understanding of the Crisis Residential Facility’s best practice when discharging a homeless client: Appropriate clothes, footwear, food
Demonstrates knowledge of Infection Control, Standard Precautions, and protecting against blood-borne pathogens, and airborne pathogens by wearing a mask when appropriate
Demonstrates the ability to assist client with writing their safety plan under the direction of the Therapist
Demonstrates and consistently practices proper handwashing techniques in order to help control the spread of infection.
Demonstrates the ability to clean chairs and area after each client
Demonstrates the ability to be client advocate
Demonstrates effective team building competency by working with other team members during heavy workload and by assisting others when needed.
Demonstrates understanding of taking assigned breaks and reporting to manager if they are unable. Understand the importance of clocking in and out using assigned clock in break room.
Demonstrates excellent Customer Service skills and sensitivity to cultural diversity when dealing with co-workers, patients, physicians and outside agencies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
