Job responsibilities
• Serves as technical lead on complex analytics projects, responsible for solution data architecture, data models and corresponding logic to harmonize disparate data sources into an effective solution
• Leverages domain experience to profile and interpret data coming from multiple systems that often lack available data dictionaries or descriptive documentation
• Guides and reviews the work of other team members, including data engineers involved in coding transformation and data ingestion logic
• Analyzes and solves data optimization issues
• Serves as the main point of contact to dashboard and report developers and works in collaboration with them to ensure that the data model design aligns with the requirements for the visual layer
• Prepares architecture and design documentation, and guides other team members on producing clear and concise solution documentation
• Conducts design and code reviews
• Prepares and delivers presentations to management that inform them of issues and opportunities with our data assets and technologies
• Provides expert level support for deployed solutions, interfacing with support staff and helping them to resolve issues within defined SLAs
• Provides input for and reviews test plans and test scripts for coverage and effectiveness
• Provides input to individuals involved in data governance, data mastering, and data cleaning
• Designs approach for ranking application risk based on current state deployment
• Manages the development of architecture standards.
• Designs future state reference architectures that will provide a template for teams to achieve security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• High-level analysis, profiling, and reporting on application health in application portfolio.
• Develops and maintains a method for architecture assessment and identifies tactical remediation and long-term future state architecture for applications
• Promotes adoption of application development and DevOps best practices
• Presents findings and recommendations to Enterprise Architecture and Steering Group.
Qualifications

What we’re looking for
• Experience demonstrating an increasing level of technical lead responsibility delivering complex analytical solutions in life sciences, preferably in the clinical trial domain.
• The candidate must have substantial hands-on SQL development experience using at least two distinct data platforms.
• Experience with Hive and Microsoft SQL server are preferable.
• The candidate will have a BA/BS, preferably in computer science or engineering.
• Experience creating relational data models and a solid understanding of data modeling best practices is also required.
• Experience with healthcare data sources, preferably with clinical trial systems and databases.
• Experience with BI tools and platforms, as well as with R, Python, Spark and data science libraries is desirable.
• Direct experience designing and implementing analytical solutions used in the conduct of clinical trials are preferred.
