The Role:

The Associate Director, Medical Information and Communications works with the Senior Director, Publications and Communications on the development of all medical information resources, including standard response letters and FAQs, ensuring high scientific quality and compliance with all applicable policies. This role will manage a Medical Information call center and all requests for information. This role will also support the execution of the Medical Communications strategy across the Syndax portfolio and be involved in content generation, which may include, but is not limited to, scientific slide decks, field medical tools, training materials, congress-related activities, and other Medical Affairs deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and deliver accurate, fair-balanced, timely responses to unsolicited medical information inquiries/requests from HCPs in a multi-media environment and record information according to regulatory guidelines.
  • Manage a Medical Information call center, ensuring proper training, use of resources, and reporting based on applicable policies.
  • Assure timely information transfer between the Medical Information group and other functions
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs and cross-functional colleagues on the development of standard response letters (SRLs), custom responses to unsolicited requests for medical information, FAQs, and other Medical Information resources, managing the development and approval process, and ensuring all medical information resources are of high-quality and compliant.
  • Manage congress/medical information booth planning and logistics, lead resource development and approval of congress materials, and staff medical information booths at annual scientific congresses.
  • Provide high-quality medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials; ensure materials are scientifically accurate, current, and properly substantiated and referenced; ensure materials are scientifically rigorous and presented with appropriate context.
  • Support the execution of Medical Communications plans by working across matrix teams (Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Legal/Compliance and Regulatory), on the development and approval of medical/scientific content for scientific exchange, medical educational, internal medical training, and data dissemination.
  • Based on ongoing needs assessment, evolving data, and in collaboration with MSL team leads, identify areas for innovative resource improvement to enhance scientific engagement.
  • Manage a resource library of materials approved for Medical Affairs use.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of medical communications trends and materials (scientific platform, core slide decks, scientific communication plans, digital communication plans) and can support updates/revisions to these materials.
  • Support the creation of annual and long-range Medical Communications plans and budgets.
  • Understand the scientific and medical content in given areas of interest for Syndax and become a subject matter expert and internal liaison for all products.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs team members in other functions to drive consistent interpretation of our scientific data and establish a consistent, unified medical voice/position across Medical Affairs.
  • Provide therapeutic and product training to multiple internal customers (e.g., sales force, customer/HCP call center, cross-functional teams).

Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes:

  • Advanced degree (i.e., PhD, PharmD) in Health Sciences preferred.
  • 4 years' experience in medical information, medical communications and/or relevant medical affairs roles.
  • Experience in biotech/pharmaceutical environment or scientific/medical communications agency.
  • Experience executing medical information plans and interacting with a call center.
  • Experience implementing medical communication initiatives, including omnichannel communication and digital channels/tools.
  • Knowledge of Oncology.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical clinical development and product life-cycle management.
  • Ability to understand and interpret medical/scientific data and incorporate into Medical Affairs deliverables.
  • Strong project management skills, with high attention to detail, and ability to deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, and independently on specific identified tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and make an accurate determination of timeframe for project completion.
  • Collaborative, team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience managing vendors and overall budgets.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical standards, compliance, and regulations.

Location: Syndax has offices in Waltham, MA and New York City and has a dispersed workforce across the United States.
