Synchrony Financial is Hiring a Remote VP, MarTech Product Owner

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

Synchrony is continuing to build a world class Performance Marketing Organization committed to driving results with our retail and payments partners while also delivering leading customer experiences. The VP, Product Owner will oversee the delivery and backlog of all data feature requests between the MarTech organization and internal partners and constituents.

Additionally, this role will work closely with the individual platform product owners to understand each platforms strategies, direction, roadmap, data structure and dependencies and communicate and prioritize the feature backlogs.

Occasionally you may be required to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as business or team meetings, training and culture events.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the agile lifecycle of MarTech features and data requests to ensure they meet the individual product owners needs and operational requirements.

  • Partner closely with MarTech product owners to understand overall vision of MarTech platforms, ensuring prioritization and backlogs accurately reflect the needs and timelines of the organization.

  • Develop applicable user stories and refine with internal partners to ensure proper understanding, evaluation and sprint estimations.

  • Collaborate with all internal PI planning leaders so that necessary features and requests are properly included and evaluated for sprint inclusion.

  • Oversee MarTech product roadmap, ensuring alignment across product owners and cross-functional partners.

  • Represent and communicate MarTech across various stakeholder and cross-functional forums for enterprise updates, feature advocacy and partner alignment

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or in lieu of degree, a high school diploma/GED and 10 years of experience in a product owner role including working in an Agile environment.

  • 6 years experience working in large-scale enterprise organizations, including (can be congruent/overlapping):

    • experience in product development or product management

    • experience as a Scrum master or other agile-specific role

    • experience with agile methodology/process participation

Desired Characteristics:

  • Certified SAFe Product Owner

  • Five or more years of experience in product development or management, driving the end-to-end delivery of product solutions

  • Understanding of Marketing technologies and Data/database solutions (‘MarTech’) – e.g., Customer Data Platforms, Preference Centers, CRM solutions, Messaging platforms

  • Proficiency with applicable agile and/or project management tools (Kanban, Jira)

  • In-depth knowledge of agile methodology for project management

  • Working knowledge of product development architecture

  • Ability to prioritize effectively

  • Excellent knowledge of user-centered design principles

  • Ability to work with large, cross-functional teams

  • Understanding of business value related to features and functions

  • Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders

  • Highly motivated, assertive self-starter with the ability to work autonomously or as a strong team participant 

  • Broad experience working with internal cross-functional partners (i.e., IT, Enterprise Operations) to ensure alignment of priorities and requirements.

  • Experience with consumer financial services organizations, preferably with exposure to credit card marketing or retail marketing, consumer protection, privacy and related laws and policies.

Grade/Level: 12

The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
