Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
Lead and participate in the development of policies, standards, procedures, charters and other supporting documentation for the Risk organization, as well as provide second line oversight of the Business’ governance documentation. Reporting to the VP Policy and Procedure Governance Leader, this position will work directly with various Risk pillars leadership teams to document their various processes and governance activities. Working with other Risk function teams, the role will provide oversight to various governance teams in the Business to ensure their documentation is current and consistent with Synchrony requirements. The position will lead the creation of and manage a new approval workflow for standards and procedures, as well as be responsible for the management of the Critical Document Repository.

Essential Responsibilities:
Lead the development and maintenance of policies, standards, procedures, charters and job aids
Facilitate approval of policies, standards, procedures, and charters through the various governing bodies and/or individual resources
Liaise with the various leadership teams to understand and evaluate compliance with Company policies
Fully implement the Company's policy framework throughout the Risk function
Work with other Risk teams in the second line oversight of the Business, including ensuring that governance documentation is up to date and complete
Ensure standards and procedures align with overarching policies and further support other critical documents such as charters, the Risk Appetite Statements and the Enterprise Risk Governance Framework
Work with Level 3 process owners to proactively identify areas in need of standards, and procedures, and ensure that RCSA information is consistent with governance documentation
Update and maintain the Master List of Standards and Procedures
Lead the creation and management of new standard and procedure workflow
Manage the Critical Document Repository, including maintenance of access protocols and requests
Assist in responses to regulatory exams or other document requests
Build and develop subject matter expertise across all pillars of Risk
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, OR in lieu of degree, a High School Diploma / GED and a minimum of 8 years of Risk Management, Audit or other governance experience
5 years' experience in Risk, Credit, Accounting, Finance, Compliance or Audit role(s), or in lieu of Bachelor's degree, 8 years' experience in Risk, Credit, Accounting, Finance, Compliance or Audit
3 years writing policies, standards, procedures or job aids in the financial services industry
Desired Characteristics:
Excellent written communication ability, including strong creation and editing skills
Experience providing credible challenge to internal processes
Ability to decipher complex data, identify patterns, and effectively present/communicate in a clear and concise manner
Attention to detail and follow up skills essential
Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to foster relationships and build informal networks without compromising independence
Experience designing or managing data workflows
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
Demonstrated ability to work independent with little supervision
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, organize work flow, and prioritize work assignments
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, levels of the business, and governing bodies such Committees or Sub-Committees
Familiarity with operating understanding of consumer loan products and processes
Excellent work ethic, and able to work well with broad and diverse global teams
Strong analytical skills
Grade/Level: 12
The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
