Description:

Our Digital Communication Service Technicians play a critical role in maintaining modern communication systems in correctional facilities (escorts are provided for safety). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of digital communication devices such as tablets and computer systems
  • Identification and resolution of hardware and software issues
  • Liaison with various vendors to expedite problem resolution
  • Operation of proprietary digital communication and networking equipment
  • Archiving and backup of system files and data
  • Running customer reports as required
  • Daily interaction with the customer for system maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Performing other related “housekeeping” functions

The role is based in state-of-the-art inmate facilities (Delmont, NJ Area) and, as such, necessitates passing an intensive background check.

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Expertise in wiring infrastructure, digital communication devices, and troubleshooting of connectivity issues
  • Familiarity with the installation and maintenance of networking equipment, cabling, and related documentation
  • Prior experience (5 Years) with computer systems, networking equipment, and cabling techniques (e.g., RJ45 for Ethernet)
  • Proficiency in multitasking, setting priorities, and tracking issues concurrently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with both inside and outside plant or premise wiring installations
  • Ability to interpret job drawings, sketches, prints, and other project documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and prior customer service experience
  • Working knowledge of digital communication test equipment
  • Administrative work to include personal timesheets, vouchers, and advance requests processed as required
  • Dedication to maintaining confidentiality, safety, and security standards at all times on assigned projects
  • Ability to respond professionally and timely to customer requests, questions, or concerns

Required experience:

  • Administrative and clerical work: 5 years
  • Troubleshooting of connectivity issues: 5 years
  • Customer Service Skills: 5 years
  • Digital Communication Service Technician: 5 years
  • Installation and maintenance of networking equipment: 5 years

Other Required:

  • Must have experience with digital communication systems
  • Must be available for 24x7x365 callout
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required facility security clearances
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb, squat, bend, and sit for prolonged periods
  • Must have experience with MS Windows programs and tablet operating systems
  • Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and hubs is a plus
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal in English

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
