We are looking for individuals who love learning and working with students to join our team. The Sylvan Tutor is responsible for creating a positive personal learning experience for students by teaching students using Sylvan program materials. Using the program materials, the tutor creates balanced and robust learning experiences for students. The Sylvan Tutor evaluates student progress on each assignment, communicates this progress, and works with Center staff to ensure learning is personal for each student.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach math (algebra, geometry, calculus)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of rigorous math concepts
  • Prepare for each instructional session
  • Greet students and initiate instruction to personally engage each student
  • Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs
  • Manages students, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session
  • Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignment
  • Use praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn
  • Manage the conclusion of each instructional session and manage the completion of the learning log
  • Communicate specific student needs to Center staff

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
