With over 600 dedicated employees focused on safety, environment, quality and production, we operate and monitor various pulping and papermaking processes and systems. This is an Engineering and Technical management position reporting to the Mill Manager. The incumbent will serve as a member of the Mill's Lead Team and be responsible for all Manufacturing Excellence Initiatives. This will include organizing, managing, coordinating, measuring and controlling engineering and technical disciplines within a highly complex manufacturing environment. Position Requirements & Key Accountability Actions: Demonstrate leadership in the area of safety and support broad based participation in the mill’s safety initiatives.Develop and nurture a team based organization committed to employee participation and team work. Primarily responsible for development and implementation of deliberate improvements focused on capital and non-capital cost reduction, waste reduction, process efficiency and variability reduction projects, as well as, continuous improvements.Work with Business Unit Managers and Mill Controller to develop annual budget that meets targeted yoy savings. Utilize CoRe database to track all cost reduction projects from concept through sustain phases. Maintain a 9% yoy backlog (hopper) of saving ideas.Meet Mill/Corporate ME certification goals for White, Yellow, and Green Belts.Responsible for recruiting, on-boarding and career development of both full time engineers and interns. This includes oversight of Mill’s Engineering Development Program.Act as mill champion for Sylvamo’s Global Manufacturing System (GMS) elements. Coordinate with Corporate Global Excellence Leaders and the other Mill Manufacturing Excellence Leaders to sustain/improve Sylvamo’s ME/GE programs.Work with other Lead Team members to integrate and prioritize Manufacturing Excellence (ME) initiatives for the facilityChampions the mill’s overall improvement process and ensures the mill replicates best practices appropriatelyManage and control department costs within budget.Hold meaningful 1-1 discussions with members of the Technical team, set expectations and hold individuals accountable for results.Champion resolution of complex operating issues as needed.Provide support for project management and/or outage management during annual outages.Maintain Sustain A3 work system.Solicit cost reduction ideas via the MyIdea initiative.Coordinate capital cost reduction projects with Engineer ManagerConduct all functions within a work systems based framework to ensure sustainability. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.A minimum of 10 years of manufacturing management or process experience in a heavy industrial environment (prior paper or chemical industry experience preferred).Candidate will possess Green/Black Belt certification or be able to certify to Sylvamo’s Black Belt level within 1 year of service.Prior experience as an Area Operations (or Maintenance) Manager with Business Unit Manager experience preferredPossess good written and oral communication skills, problem solving, time management, conflict resolution and task group facilitation.Must have strong leadership skills focused on accountability and results.Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills are required. The base compensation range for this position is $128,000.00 to $213,400.00 per year. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon a number of factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.#LI-LB1#LI-Onsite
