Sylvamo’s Eastover, SC paper mill has an opening for an Engineering Technician. Engineering Technician
Key position responsibilities include:

• Actively participate in Mill Safety processes. Conduct all work in accordance with Mill Safety Policies and procedures and influence others to work safely.
• Engineering Documentation management
• Drawings – Serve as the primary Engineering contact for new drawing requests. Assign new drawing numbers, equipment numbers, loop sheet numbers, etc.; manage the drawing check-in and check-out process; update CAD drawings and facilitate management of this process; Create TIF files of existing CAD drawings as modified or created; Update hard copy drawing documentation in Engineering Library, Operating areas and Maintenance shops.
• Engineering Department Procedures and Specificaitons – Update Engineering Specifications and/or procedures working in consultation with Project Engineers, the Mill Engineering Manager and Regional Engineering Consultants.
• Excavation Permits – Serve as primary Engineering contact for excavation permit requests. Review Engineering drawings to support excavation permit requests and help facilitate permit approval. Maintain excavation permit documentation for the Eng. Library
• Monorail Documentation – Collaborate with Project Engineers, the on-site Crane Contractor Company, Maintenance personnel and the Engineering Manager to maintain up-to-date Engineering Library documentation for Mill monorails including design calculations, inspection reports and load test reports.
• Spare Parts – Collaborate with Project Engineers, Mill Storeroom personnel, Area planners and Vendors to get new spare part numbers assigned and to ensure parts are added into Mill Storeroom Inventory
• PSM Documentation – Update as needed PSM Data Sheets and file approved and completed PSM Management of Change Documentation.
• Maintain Engineering library in a safe and sustainable housekeeping state
• Maintain Eng. Library Equipment including computer, printer and plotter
• Routinely support Project Engineers with development and implementation of project assignments. Examples may include assisting with data collection or management, troubleshooting, performing tests/analysis, contractor management, documentation, parts management, training, etc.
• Develop and manage/lead Mill Capital Fund projects and other project assignments from concept through project approval and installation/startup in accordance with Sylvamo internal processes. Projects will primarily be at the Eastover Mill but occasionally may involve work at the Sylvamo Sheet Converting Plant located in Sumter, SC.
• Provide regular assignment status updates/reports to immediate manager and other key stakeholders as appropriate.
• Serve on mill task force and ad-hoc teams to lead and contribute to mill and company initiatives.

Minimum qualifications:

• CAD software experience
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written to constructively interact with mill teams, project teams, and management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Additional preferred qualifications:

• Bentley Microstation CAD software experience
• Industrial experience managing technical drawings, documentation or projects
• Experience with SAP
