Sydor Optics is Hiring a CNC Programmer Near Rochester, NY

Sydor Optics, Inc. is a Rochester based manufacturing company fabricating flat-surfaced, precision optics for over 50 years. Our manufacturing facility is in Chili, NY just west of the Rochester International Airport. Our Team works closely with customers to assist them with custom requests for a variety of markets ranging from entertainment, semiconductor, medical, military and more. Position Description

The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing Mastercam programs to produce machined parts. Designing and building fixturing as needed.

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

Associate degree or related certificates in CNC programming. 4 years' experience preferred. 5 years Mastercam experience and/or Master cam certification a plus.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  1. Experience with Haas and Fanuc controls.
  2. Blueprint reading, particularly involving GD&T.
  3. Mechanical and technical capacity along with good math skills.
  4. Good understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office and CAD (3D solid models).

Essential Functions

  1. Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  2. Programming Haas and Fanuc controls while also running small production run.
  3. Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data to calculate correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds and feed rates.
  4. Use and read precision measuring instruments.
  5. Machining small production runs.
  6. Maintain specifications by observing cutting operations; taking measurement; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned and needed.
