SWOPE HEALTH is Hiring an Internal Communications & Events Specialist Near Kansas City, MO

As the Internal Communications & Events Specialist for Swope Health, you will combine the art and science of communication and event planning to advance Swope Health's mission. You will play a pivotal role in engaging associates, spreading awareness, and assisting with organizing impactful events that foster community engagement and support Swope Health's goals. The work of the Internal Communications and Events Associate will be dynamic and fast-moving to support our current growth trajectory.
In Your Role You Will:
Internal Communications - 60%
  • Content Creation and Information Sharing: Assist Director of Strategic Communications and others in the organization with developing, curating and disseminating content that tells the Swope Health story. This includes creating, managing and editing content for newsletters, associate emails, internal projects and campaigns and various reports that effectively communicate the organization's mission and impact.
  • Social Media Engagement: Assist Social Media Manager with boosting Swope Health's social media presence by participating in Social Media content meetings and offering and executing ideas for content and acting as an ambassador for associates on our social media platforms.
  • Process: Support the work of a small team, aligning with external communications for consistent messaging. Support major projects such as the production of the annual report, website updates and a new intranet rollout.
Event Coordination - 40%
  • Event Planning: Provide communication strategy, marketing needs and assist with execution of various events (preparation, live and post-event) for Swope Health events, such as community engagement events, ribbon cuttings, fundraisers, associate and community town halls. Assist in all facets of event logistics and timelines to ensure the success of each event.
  • Volunteer Management: Coordinate volunteers for Swope Health events, ensuring they are well-prepared and providing a positive experience for event participants.
  • Event Promotion: Assist the full team in creating marketing strategies to promote events effectively. Serve as lead copywriter for event promotional materials (with assistance from review team), manage event registration, and track attendance to maximize event impact.
  • Sponsorship and Partnerships: Identify and cultivate event sponsors and partnerships, fostering positive relationships with key stakeholders.
    Lead partnerships across Swope Health, including with clinical teams, patient navigators and HR, become the Swope Health reliable expert on community events.
    Plan, execute and lead internal and external facing thought leadership events as the voice of community health, such as events supporting Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Pride Month and outward facing panel events such as the social driver series.
Successful Candidate Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field or equivalent training with 3-5 years of comparable work experience
  • Prior experience in communications, public relations, or event coordination, with a preference for experience in the non-profit sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with social media management, email marketing tools, graphic design and content creation tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, contributing creative ideas to support Swope Health's mission
