PURPOSE: The Shelter Site Manager is responsible for all aspects of operations at the shelter site, including day-to-day staff management and resident management. They are responsible for ensuring that all clients are treated fairly and that the correct screening process is performed. They are also responsible for the staff they oversee, that they follow policies and procedures while also ensuring that the shelter site is kept in clean, orderly and acceptable condition. Site managers need to be aware of grants/contracts that their facility falls under so they can ensure compliance. Site managers need to know the Switchpoint model and culture and to cultivate those values within both staff and residents that are under their jurisdiction.

Responsibilities: ·

  • Hold consistent meetings/check-ins with team leads and other crucial staff.
  • Ensure full compliance to policies, procedures, grants, and contracts.
  • Responsible for the ordering of supplies and keeping inventory of the site.
  • Handling client and staff complaints, concerns, or needs.
  • Responsible for overseeing the staffing budget and ensuring the site doesn’t go over budget.
  • Work with any case managers on their team or in the community to ensure the best care we can provide for the client is achieved.
  • Ensure all decisions made are in line with Switchpoint culture and values.
  • Work to fill vacancies with all qualifying clients.
  • Accountable for the state of the property
  • Holds both clients and staff accountable to policies and rules.
  • Documents any important staff or client interactions that may lead to disciplinary actions.
  • Responsible for hiring and training all staff of the facility.
  • Decrease the amount of overtime paid to employees as much as possible.
  • Responsible for building relations with other community partners, any state contacts, and any city/county contacts.
  • Must learn the software “UHMIS” Utah Homeless Management Information System in order to keep staff accountable for updating it, keep compliance with grants, and run reports as needed.
  • In charge of scheduling staff to ensure coverage in all areas is achieved.
  • Act as a final decision maker in hiring of key staff.
  • May be needed to cover shifts if other staff is not available.
  • Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved.
  • Responsible for safeguarding the quality of operations both (internal & external audits)

Recordkeeping and Reporting:

  • Report critical incident(s) immediately to the Regional
  • Collects data necessary to meet funding requirements and statistical reports.
  • Keep up-to-date data (KPI’s) for Regional Manager and CEO.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly intelligent professional with outstanding management skills and extensive hands-on experience. Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills; capable of making quick yet sound judgments and decisions.
  • A BS degree in human services or management, or equal experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in human services field with emphasis on homeless and vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience with those in substance abuse recovery and mental health a plus.

COMPENSATION:

Wage: $25 - $30 per hour
