POSITION SUMMARY:
The Emergency Department Clerk is responsible for verifying and updating patient demographics and obtaining the correct insurance information for all patients in the ED and correctly admitting them to the floor as needed. They also work with outside agencies to arrive patients and provide paperwork to the agencies for billing purposes. We are responsible for the answering and directing of all calls received into the ED and directs them to the appropriate department. The position is accountable for maintaining their electronic work queues in performing their duties. The staff works with internal and external customers, including patients, families, and clinical staff, and outside facilities to contact Providers for the staff accomplish their objectives. Assumes outpatient registration duties when assigned. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives as well as, Health System initiatives.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Previous hospital or business office experience preferred. Medical terminology preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Must maintain bi-annual CPR certification.
